Many liberals say they are atheist or agnostic because they don’t want to believe in anything not seen or proven. Yet they believe that Obama’s long-form birth certificate exists.

I can respect somebody being agnostic based on wanting proof. But if atheist is to have meaning different than agnostic, does it not include asserting there is no God? How can one do this based on a lack of evidence? Would they not have to present evidence to back up their own assertion?
