What hogwash. That tooth had be going bad already. You don't break a healthy tooth by biting a hard substance.

Actually, you can. We had a "virgin tooth" patient about a month ago. First time I have ever heard that term before. If you bite into a hard substance, such as an olive pit (which I have done a few times) and it hits the right angle, it can fracture a healthy tooth.....which is what lead to her "virgin tooth" root canal and crown.

I don't think it was an olive pit though.
