Temecula approves building of mosque (mega size)

While it may not rival the intensity given the planned building of a mosque near Ground Zero in New York City, passions ran high Tuesday and early Wednesday morning in Temecula over the proposal to build a mosque.

When all was said and done, the Temecula City Council early Wednesday morning unanimously signed off on a proposed mosque after a marathon eight-hour hearing that went back-and-forth from vitriolic rants from residents labeling Muslims as terrorists to interfaith leaders noting the peaceful virtues of Islam.

In the end, the council’s decision was made entirely based on mundane issues like traffic, parking and environmental impacts, with the council agreeing that the project exceeded all legal needs for approval.

There. Fixed it.

Whaddayknow.. the Religion of Beast comes west. Has California’s Governor General Brown been recalled to Mexico City for consulations?

But when the Texas governor flew in at tax paid expense for the new mega mosque built in Texas, to lay the first stone, not a word from the bucket mouths.

Way south of L. A. and north of San Diego. Inland a bit but still catches some ocean air. Major freeway goes through. Vineyards and housing tracts. Indian Casino too. Used to be nice — not any more.

I agree.

A lot of the righteousness of the cause of preventing a mosque on the grounds of 9-11 was lost to the zealots who show that they don’t want a mosque built anywhere.

I guess the words of Thomas Jefferson and our Constitution hold very little meaning to them.

I want them all out ... pretty girls, cute kids and all ... get out.

I appreciate you stance, but cannot support it.

I am grateful that I was born in this great country and that - here - we might practice any religion we wish. This freedom is why our forefathers came to the new world.

One caveat . . . we must not assault others. Assault is a crime. So is murder. So is terrorism.

Yeah, I know.

I can't even support my own statement.

Even by 9/11 it was too late ... they'd been here long enough to have a foothold in many communities and ... though we say we're not ... we are afraid of them.

I'm older now ... and I don't have much time to see if I can accomplish reclaimation or change.

As long as we can build a BBQ joint right beside it.

In California.

Temecula has been a quiet farming/ranching community for many year. On the way to Indio...

This is awful news.

It was a one horse town when I lived in Ca.

That must have been a long time ago! Both Temecula and Murrieta have populations well over 100,000 now.

I read the full article and a couple of things caught my attention: the size of the mosque, over 24,000 sq ft and the fact that it is being built next to a Baptist church. Guess what? That controversial mosque in Tennesee is being built right next to a Baptist church. Is there a pattern here? Are they going to start picking sites near Christian churches so that they can begin provocations against the Christian church? After the mosque is built they can then introduce a loudspeaker to wail out the call to prayer five times a day at the Christian worshippers next door.

Where are they getting the money to build such a huge mosque? Are there that many moslems in the Temecula vicinity to come up with all of the millions necessary to build such a huge mosque?
