Sounds to me like a setup. There will be a big thing made of no birth certificate and then...miraculously, just before the election they will find it.

Okay, let's assume it's true. It's kind of suspicious that the governor would confide in someone who'd immediately spill the beans to the press, but by this point the stories been circulating so long it very well could be true.

Could it be that the state got rid of the paperwork when it went over to a computerized system, as some claimed when the controversy got started?

Even under the old paper system, you might not have a detached document, but an entry in a ledger.

If none of that is true, does that mean that the long-form birth certificate never was, or that it might have been removed from the files perhaps by Obama's people?

But the main problem with this is, whether the document exists and is in the files or not, Hawaii can't release it without Obama's permission. Presumably the Governor knew this to begin with, and didn't have permission to release it, so how could things have gotten so far that he'd conduct an exhaustive search and leak the result to the media?
