From the Most Surprising to the Most Ridiculous Moment -- A Review of Obama's State of the Union....
Fox News ^ | 01.25.11 | Kevin McCullough

His best moment came early on: "What comes of this moment is up to us. What comes of this moment will be determined not by whether we can sit together tonight, but whether we can work together tomorrow."

The devil will be in the details on most of what the president had to say tonight, but there is no denying the need for Americans to work together. What many may feel however is that we will need to work against the inclination to spend more

His most hypocritical: "Thanks to the tax cuts we passed, Americans’ paychecks are a little bigger today."

These were tax cuts he opposed up until the very final moment when it became clear he had no real choice but to pass, largely because of an informed electorate. But the truth was he had desired to eliminate those cuts since his days on the campaign trail.

His most sincere: "The world has changed."

As was evidenced in large measure by the weakened tone and voice of the chief executive.

His most patriotic: "What’s more, we are the first nation to be founded for the sake of an idea – the idea that each of us deserves the chance to shape our own destiny."

President Obama has struggled in past speeches with the ability to pronounce overtly patriotic rhetoric, but this line, one of the best of the speech genuinely summarizes the goals of the founders and would have resonated with the likes of past Presidents Reagan, Kennedy. Even Bush.

For the record: He passed absolutely NO tax cuts.

What a pompous, lying ass he is.

The TelePrompTer and speech writers did a great job.

I never thought I’d hear the words “free enterprise” or America and the idea of greatness and exceptionalism associated with each other.

I don’t know who wrote it, but I give them credit. He didn’t even vomit when he said the words, so I give Obama credit.

Zero really is a terrible speaker, with a halting, near-robotic droning delivery and speaks non-standard American English, eg., Tolley-Bahn.

Two of the very awkward and uncomfortable moments were his failed attempts at humor. He tried to deliver a light-hearted narrative about smoked salmon that totally fell flat. Even worse was a distasteful "joke" about an airplane crashing, revealing his utter contempt for human life.

O'Bambi may hold the title (for a couple more years) of President. But is he Presidential? NO! Not all all.

No. I will NOT “work together” with elitist Commies, intent on destroying this country.

Additionally, I see absolutely no need or advantage in being “civil” with them either. They are the enemy, have had their radical way for FAR too long, and need to be destroyed. Utterly.

For the record: He passed absolutely NO tax cuts.

He did something with payroll taxes....though it's hard to tell since so many people are no longer payrolls.

I would ask, how did he get this reputation as great orator, but the answer obviously would be his sycophants call him that because they are enthralled with his left wing views. Tonight his delivery was quite stilted.

Among other errors he said NASA did not exist a half century ago? OK give or take a few years.... But NASA was created in 1958, more than a half century ago.

All that talk of a Sputnik moment was ridiculous. He then said we need to invest in bold new technologies, but never mentioned space again.

He certainly had no desire to “Work Together” while the Rats had control of Congress!
Why the big change now?

I'll mention something else about his delivery since I heard the first part on the radio (thus was spared his visage). So, based strictly on the audio, I was struck by his rather feminine vocal quality and diction.

He lacks the rich, masculine, commanding voice of Ronald Reagan. Substance aside, and listening only for stylistic cues, Obama has a rather high-pitched tonal range.

There is a temporary 2% reduction in SS (FICA) taxes this year. That is a tax cut, and is worth a couple of thousand dollars for the average worker.

I’ve always presumed that the left says he’s a great speaker because they really are shocked when a black guy can string together a complete sentence. As Joe Biden said, he’s pretty articulate for a black guy.

Speaking of Biden, did he have a case of indigestion tonight? There were a number of times when he seemed to be trying to stifle a burp. Watch a replay of the SOTU; it's rather amusing to watch what the veep was doing.

A "couple of thousand dollars" if the average worker was grossing $100 grand.

He's not. More like $40 grand, equating the annual benefit to around $800.

Basic math:

2% x $100,000= $2,000

The median household income is $46k

2% x $46k= $920
