Fred-mania, though short-lived, seemed similarly extra-rational.

And you'll no doubt recall the "rules" for Fred Threads required an obligatory picture of his voluptuous blonde wife.

I was a Fred fan back in the day; I liked him because he seemed a lot more grown up and practical than the other pack of clowns in the race. Never had that slavish devotion, though....

Oh man, I'd forgotten that. I thought the Fred idea was interesting, til I saw him and realized he was twenty years older than what I had pictured in my mind. I had him pegged pretty early on for what he turned out to be, and took some heat for it. Old, tired, and unmotivated. Of course, Fredheads said that made him similar to George Washington!
