It's bad enough that Rep. Paul Ryan has to follow President Obama. Now the brainy Wisconsin congressman tapped to give the official Republican response to the State of the Union address must also compete for attention with Tea Party star Michele Bachmann.
Bachmann, a third-term Minnesota congresswoman renowned for lobbing rhetorical bombs at her opponents, plans to rebut the president's address in an online broadcast at the Tea Party Express website Tuesday night.
While Ryan's remarks will be carried by all the networks and cable news outlets as they happen, television news outlets have agreed to share a camera to record Bachmann's comments -- and some could choose to air them live.

Gravitas. She is thinking of running for President. She has spent more time in Iowa than Floyd of Rosedale.
Even less will watch Obama outside of Olbie’s living room his gig is up.
IMHO, We will not be disappointed with either response. This is high entertainment for me and I will be looking for a response from Sarah as well.
This thread will be available to accept comments after the fact and should prove to be very telling.
Sadly, ditto. I don’t think the squid sees the GOP move to the middle sitting with Graham holding hands. Rubio has even betrayed the tea party caucus- read the article.
“I like michelle bachmann even more than Palin. She is less afraid to take on these scumbags on thei own turf.”
So right.
Floyd of Rosedale lives in Iowa still? I heard he moved to Idaho.
Paul Ryan is one of the biggest RHINO’s around. Typical for Republicans to put a huckster like that on tv . You voted for the bailout Ryan! Can’t wipe that shit off your face no matter how hard you try.
I think looks have plenty to do with it. Yet, if Palin or Bachmann were poor speakers, lazy thinkers or afraid of their opponents, they’d never get the attention they get. You can be Miss America, but if you can’t back it up the way Palin and Bachmann do, it just wouldn’t matter.
That’s an interesting point. I’ll be curious to see how many people tune in. He’s not allowed on my TV, but then, very little is...other than the Food Channel for the wife.
Wow! You have so much inside-information!
How did you get to be so smart?
</finger down throat>
Bachmann vs. ANY democrat (including the 3:00 AM), and they go into postal orbit in the Beltway. (Palin shining in the debates???...)
Again, with Bachmann (as Reagan), they go postal in Washington.
I still think we could use a little more Smith & Wesson, instead of Namby & Pamby.
We'll see, won't we?
I think he could have gotten down in the weeds on spending a bit more, including pitching their plan to cut a couple trillion out of the budget for the next ten years. It is a start.
“Constitutional Government” ..the threat to the RinoCrat Oligarchs is as a cross to a demon. Anybody advocating it is gonna take flak.
Wow! I wasted my with my time in my last post to you in trying a kind, peaceful reply of discussion.Flame war with someone else. I will not make the same mistake twice and reply to you any further.
Bogus proposition...show me some libs who get support here because of their looks.
Sure, they're attractive...but there are much more attractive people in the world.
Kirstin Gillibrand doesn't have a lot of threads here promoting a candidacy, does she?
And Scott Brown...his support here was nuanced at best.
I think the posting of the pictures is a game, a sideline...their attractiveness is not demonstrably a reason for their support. You don't do yourself any credit by alleging so, and you betray your own mindset. That's usually what happens when someone claims to be a mind reader...
There's another politician who got this kind of support, RR, who was an old man at the time. Bachman and Palin are the only conservative politicians who are out there kicking donkey and taking names, while avoiding sounding like kooks.
Bachmann spoke up for Tea Partiers, said what's on our minds; Palin made Obammy's high sounding "Win the Future" talking point the punch line it should be...and it's not the first time, it's the most recent of many examples.
They are the most effective conservative politicians today...if anything, Bachmann is nice looking, but not hot...and Palin is a middle aged mom.
That's another reason I identify you as a troll, or a faux conservative at best. You don't want to debate the issues...but even a faux conservative would be right on more issues than you.
