It’s a CON! Just like the pay freezes in federal employees. The pay rates were frozen, but EVERYONE got merit/step increases into the next higher pay grade, so although they technically did not get “raises” their pay increased because they were re-classified into a higher grade where the “frozen pay rate” was above the “frozen pay grade” they were just promoted out of.

No matter how thin you slice it, it’s still baloney!

If for two years I or my spouse run up our credit card debt by spending $1,000 a month more than we bring in, we don’t “freeze” our spending at a level that’s already been proven to be a disaster, we cut back until we actually start chewing into the accumulated debt. Or we figure out how to make a lot more money.

Obama is incapable of pursuing either approach.

Sorry, but spending must be cut back to levels from earlier this decade, not frozen at the ridiculously high levels currently in place. The GOP's response must include a statement like this, and the GOP's mantra should be to cut, not freeze.

Usually these “freezes” mean nothing beyond inflationary increases. So the budget will contiue to grow along with the deficits.

Since the entitlement programs and debt servicing costs make up half of the budget and consume all of the tax revenue, this freeze on non-security funding is meaningless. Here is a video illustrating our problem.
