That seems to defy logic.
Even if Obozo comes up with a REAL birth certificate, he will be castigated for dragging the country through a needless debate, then pulling an “April’s Fool” joke.
If anything, I think it would have been best to let sleeping dogs lie, unless he felt that the dogs were about to catch up.

Oh, I agree that this is a no-win for Bambi - if he doesn’t have it, he has lied; and if he suddenly produces it and it has information that doesn’t fit his story, he has lied. The question, of course, is whether this will matter to anybody.
You may think that proof that Obama has lied or even proof that he is not consitutionally eligible is going to upset people, but I don’t think it will, or at any rate, not enough to derail his election bid.
So I think the Dems know this and are just testing their theory, getting it all out now because they know that Americans have a short memory. By the time 2012 rolls around, people will probably have decided that he lied and it doesn’t matter. Possibly, if it gets really bad and it turns out he was born elsewhere, SCOTUS will have ruled that since he has already been elected once, the constitutional rule does not apply or, as they did in Roe v Wade, that the Constitution has some kind of “penumbra” that permits a President not to be a natural born citizen.
But don’t expect any outrage. This trial balloon is just inoculation against the possibility of outrage.
