Noticed that it the specifications were also food Nazi PC; lo calorie, no trans fats, lo fat, lo sodium, vegetarian, etc. And at 2 meals/day.

The last thing disaster survivors need is diet food. What they need is well-rounded hi calorie, hi fat, trans fat, meals which also have a good slug of salt and sugar in it.

I guess the butt-heads are working overtime to kill the country.

It actually says fat is(less than 10% calories); you need 30% of your calories from fat to be healthy.

I noticed that, too. Here are the bureaucrats planning on the feeding of millions of people after a natural disaster and it's all Moochelle type food with big concerns about calories and fat content. No pizza, no beer and no Doritos. Blah!

"The last thing disaster survivors need is diet food."

Right on. If the people are in survival & search and rescue mode, they need good calories. If they don't know when they will eat again, they need many calories. They can always share a food unit if they are in hunker down mode.

Personally, I think it makes far more sense to use military MREs. They are geared to keep people healthy during high exertion periods.

Nuts keep very well, especially in can/freeze jars in the freezer.

They are very high in everything and good high calorie emergency food to add to survival rations.

Allergies aside, if you can eat them, they are a good investment, as they are a terrific convenience food.

I’ve got several jars of frozen nuts stored and replenish them as they get eaten.

Don’t forget to stock up on salt, too.

It will keep survivors alive, but not strong enough to fight, if you catch my drift.
