Andrea Maturen, accompanied by fellow Suncoast Primate Sanctuary volunteer Tina Ercolano, spoke with the media just four days after she was attacked by a chimpanzee housed there.

Shawn opened a door to escape her enclosure, then attacked Maturen on Feb. 12.

A lot of the people who run animal “sanctuaries” like this are complete flakes, and they’re often pretty sneaky because they know the animals are dangerous and people - such as their neighbors - are rightfully afraid of them and don’t want them around.

We have a tiger sanctuary not far away that got its permit because the woman completely lied about what type of animal she intended to house there. So now the neighbors have to put up with roaring at all hours and a very reasonable fear that one of her several tigers, jaguars, etc. will get out and attack them or their livestock.

Take a look at what a chimp did to this guy and his wife.

In the days after the attack, Maturen took the blame; now she says she was trying to protect the sanctuary.

Stupid girl.

I’m a little surprised the Sheriff would just stand around outside and take “you can’t come in” for an answer when he was responding to a 911 call.

Not to say the woman wasn't hurt, but her injuries are minor compared to those of a woman in Connecticut who answered a call from a friend when the friend's chimp was "misbehaving". I won't post a picture here because it's very disturbing, but I will post a link if you want to see.

Connecticut chimp attack victim

Chimp ate some of her fingers too

When will some people learn that wild animals will act like wild animals no matter how much we see human characteristics in them

At least she has a face left. She is lucky.

I saw on tv - must be true, that when chimps enter their teen years they get vicious and almost always go for the face.

That was the reason given for Michael Jackson getting rid of his chimp.

On the other hand, that’s not what messed up Jackson’s face.
