WASHINGTON (AP) -- The nation's labor unions saw another steep decline in membership last year, even as the economy showed signs of recovery and job losses slowed.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday that unions lost 612,000 members in 2010, dropping the unionized share of the work force to 11.9 percent from 12.3 percent in 2009. That follows a loss of 771,000 workers in 2008, continuing a steady decline from the 1950s when more than a third of workers belonged to unions.

(ILWU member for multiple years, not by choice, but by requirement).
Until we see this same news about public sector unions specifically, this isn’t much of a story or reason for celebration private sector unions,except maybe UAW aren’t that big of threat these days. Market forces and all.
This is great.....less brainwashing that you MUST vote democrat or you will pay more taxes! Unbelievable that so many people fall for the fact that the dems are the party to help them. Whoever propagated that myth is a pr master.
Funny how membership decline but union revenues skyrocketed.

Public unions saw a 1.2% decline.
Zero will have to mandate unions now so he can keep his thugs in line.
