FRESNO, California (KFSN) -- Earlier this week ABC30 showed you video of a woman who mistakenly fell into the fountain at a Pennsylvania mall, because she was distracted by text messaging. Well now that woman is suing the mall for not helping her.
The video has received more than 1.5 million views since it went viral on YouTube last week. The woman in the video, Cathy Cruz Marrero, doesn't think the video is very funny. She claims she could have gotten seriously hurt and that the security guards should have helped instead of laugh.
"I'm just like dumbfounded. And all I kept saying was, 'I fell. I fell. I fell in the fountain. I fell in the fountain.'"
Marrero has hired a lawyer to pursue legal action. The investigation is ongoing at the mall as to who leaked the video online.

Good grief! She was in the fountain for an entire 8 seconds and walked out on her own accord. What were the mall cops supposed to do? Taser the fountain?
She may not have any sense of humor but she does have a nose for money.
I heard someone say last night “If stupidity HURT we’d have a better country!” and it certainly applies in this case.
(It’ll be my tagline now)
In a sane world, she wouldn’t win anything and be required to pay the mall lawyer’s fees.
But America isn’t sane anymore.
I think she is right to sue the Mall. They should have had Lifeguards stationed at that pool —er— fountain.
I would also bet there were no signs saying which was the deep end, and no life jackets or throwable life saving equipment on the scene.
She should be thankful that she didn’t topple over an elderly person and injure them instead of just her pride.
All we need is a “loser pays all” system in place and these things wouldn’t happen so often.

Yeah, dumbass, you weren’t paying attention where you were going,
had a really embarrassing fall, got we to boot,
and now you’re looking for someone else to blame.
Can someone just sue you because you posted something they did on You Tube? Something stupid or embarrassing. Especially if you posted it on YouTube without any ID as to who they were or where in the world it happened.
Perhaps in ages past she could have sued her fellow cavemen for not erecting the proper barriers that would have kept her from walking off a cliff.
Fall on your ass and retire. Only in Amerika.
I’ll defend mall security on this one. Launching a lifeboat takes time, especially at a mall.
Natural consequences DO make stupidity hurt.
However, we have an entire political party that derives its power from making other people pay for the consequences of stupidity and irresponsibility.
Hmmm, I sure could use a few extra bucks.

The fountain had water and water is near Alaska and SARAH PALIN USES ALASKA WATER.
There’s big money in stupidity.
