Mission: NROL-49
Launch Vehicle: Delta 4 Heavy built by United Launch Alliance (ULA)
Launch Date/Time: Thursday, 20 January 2011 / 1:10 p.m. PST (4:10 p.m. EST/2108 GMT) *
Payload: Classified spy satellite (KH-11 series) for the U.S. National
Reconnaissance Office
Launch site: Space Launch Complex 6 (SLC-6), Vandenberg AFB, California
Webcast links: http://www.ulalaunch.com/site/pages/Multimedia_Webcast.shtml and
http://spaceflightnow.com/delta/d352/status.html
(Broadcast of the launch begins 25 minutes prior to launch.)
*Note: NEW LAUNCH TIME! The target launch time is being adjusted by two-and-a-half minutes to 1:10:30 p.m. Pacific (4:10:30 p.m. EST; 2110:30 GMT). This change was prompted by the COLA, or collision avoidance safety measures. COLA cutouts ensure the rocket isn’t launched on a course that would take it too close to another object already in orbit.

Imagine you’d get the best view if you went up a hill, but it’s a big rocket, so you should be able to see it going up from the flat lands too.

The fog is burning off fast here in the Central Valley. I hope I can grab a glimpse of the flare.
It’s a 45 mile view from here.
