The fact the magma is able to force the territory above it up is good; otherwise it has no place to go to while the presssure builds to the point it would explode.

We plan on visiting for the first time in late spring.....were in the area the first of last August and fully intended to tour, but “Sturgis” kicked in a week early, so we diverted - knowing we’d have never found lodging between there and the Black Hills.

Is that magma in Yellowstone’s pocket, or is it happy to see us?

Of course the ground is going to swell, because as you should all know that the center of the earth is “several million degrees”

Not sure I'd be all that excited to starting pin-pricking a caldera of that magnitude.

Yellowstone is at it again.

Ten inches doesn’t sound like much, but when you are talking about CUBIC MILES of rock rising ten inches, that’s a hell of a lot of energy.

HMMMPPHHH !
"Scientists think a swelling magma reservoir four to six miles (seven to ten kilometers) below the surface is driving the uplift. Fortunately, the surge doesn't seem to herald an imminent catastrophe, Smith said. (Related: "Under Yellowstone, Magma Pocket 20 Percent Larger Than Thought.")"
but a .00000000001 % increase in a degree of temperature (obviously a sarcastically exagerated number), or PPM carbon dioxide and they're ready to call out the brown shirts to catch people burning trash in their own back yard.
