China's rapid growth is often painted as a threat to American interests. But President Obama said today that the country's economic progress benefits the United States and opens the door to greater international stability and humanitarian progress.

"We welcome China's rise," Mr. Obama said at a press conference at the White House with Chinese President Hu Jintao. "I absolutely believe that China's peaceful rise is good for the world, and it's good for America."

Welcomes China's rise?

Where is that cartoon of Kent Brockman from The Simpson's, you know, the cartoon that shows him welcoming his new overlords.

The Bummer sure picked his word, “rise,” carefully didn’t he?

He could have said “prosperity” but no that would be too capitalist.

Same dead, soulless eyes.

Maybe he should get himself a nice pair of cosmetic contacts, like these.

They'd really jazz up his image.

The fact ignored here, is that unless you are actively, consistently opposing the treason called “free trade”.

YOU welcome China’s rise.

Time for a lot of people (including a lot of conservatives) to look in the mirror.

If Bummer got much more of his way (the new Congress with its gridlock, thankfully, makes that more unlikely now) the country of China would soon be more capitalist than the United States, with communism mainly what China is wishing on everyone else.

What’s called “free trade” is a hypocrisy. If it really lived up to its name, China wouldn’t be playing games.

“capitalist” does not mean free.

“capitalist” combined with policies which undermine our nation, is far more akin to fascism.

“capitalist” increasingly means destructive globalist policies which export US jobs and destroy America.

FREEDOM is what matters. Capitalism should be what we do within America.

Patriotism is what we need, dealing with the world.

Could more than one country on planet Earth be “free” in the older sense of the USA? It’s been complained about that supposedly the USA consumes resources in excess proportion to its population — the freedom means among other things that more people can live up to their capitalistic aspirations. While this ignores the potential for technological improvements aimed at harvesting more resources, is “freedom” something the USA really wishes to share on planet Earth?

Just a philosophical question. Although I view myself as an ultimate foreigner to Earth, since God put me here I have a duty to do my immediate neighbors good.

We should not “aspire” to capitalism.

We should aspire to be free.

And strong.

I guess my point is that these things can’t exist in a vacuum. America once had a vibrant theological basis — it has now faded away to the point that two Jews, or two Christians, could work in the same room for years before discovering that oh, they believe much the same thing.

THAT’s IT!

Now. . .just superimpose Obama’s face over Kent's and we have a perfect match.
