First Lady Michelle Obama donned a stunning, one-shouldered, red gown on Wednesday night for the state dinner for visiting President Hu Jintao of China.
Her color choice was a gracious nod to her Chinese guests: red, while the dominant color of the Chinese flag, also symbolizes prosperity and happiness in Chinese tradition.
The dress was designed by the label of Alexander McQueen, a beloved British designer who committed suicide less than a year ago.

Ok, the top pic front view- from the waist down the design looks good. Gosh awful color and tire track design distracts from it though! Top of the dress should have been either strapless, or with both straps up, or both straps down, but not one up, one down. Her hair looks nice except for that top bit that looks like it got away from the Bobby pins and hairspray-makeup is good...overall though, the “fallen” strap and the horrid fabric/material totally ruins the look.
But I’m just an average housewife with common sense values and ethics-what do I know about “high fashion”, LOL?
If Laura Bush had worn it, the bodice would have been plain red without the black pattern.

Hillary looks washed out and ridiculously out of place in that pic with the Kennedy Center Honorees. That dress looks like a 1980's bridesmaid's dress IMO. I'm not an Oprah fan, but she looks great in that rich red color.
No comment on the pic from the Hu state dinner, as I can't see enough of the dress... but it looks better than Hillary's "Pink Nightmare" dress anyway.

I think this dress is not the worst thing I’ve seen on The First Wookie, although it is hideous.
Regarding the straps, which come in second to the horrible color, I think the straps should have BOTH been designed to be off the shoulder. That or, both should be on the shoulder. But it would be a great improvement in design to have them both off the shoulder (with appropriate strapess bra, Michelle!) and the dress color should not have those horrible dirty swirls.
Why or why can’t The Wookie dress well? She has all the money in the world, but picks horrible designers. Any of us could choose classy outfits for The Wookie. Poor Wookie. You can’t buy class.

Expensive silk. Off shoulder that looks as though it’s falling off. Some weird asymmetrical draping that looks as though a corner got tucked in her underpants the last trip to the john. And the dye job - another random “looks like stains”.
This is the guy who hung himself 9 days after his mother passed away. Well at least he didn't end up filing bankruptcy like 3 other Moochelle designers did.
