Philadelphia Abortion Doctor Charged With 8 Counts of Murder

An abortion doctor who catered to minorities, immigrants and poor women was charged with eight counts of murder in the deaths of a patient and seven babies who were born alive and then killed with scissors, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Dr. Kermit Gosnell, 69, made millions of dollars over 30 years, performing as many illegal, late-term abortions as he could, prosecutors said. State regulators ignored complaints about him and failed to visit or inspect his clinic since 1993, but no charges were warranted against them, District Attorney Seth Williams said.

Gosnell, his wife and eight other colleagues were arrested overnight Tuesday following a grand jury investigation, MyFoxPhilly.com reports.

According to the district attorney's office, Gosnell is facing murder in the third degree for the death of 41-year-old Karnamaya Mongar. The patient died Nov. 20, 2009, when she was overdosed with anesthetics prescribed by Gosnell, according to the station.

Williams said during a press conference Wednesday that Gosnell "induced labor, forced the live birth of viable babies in the sixth, seventh, eighth month of pregnancy and then killed those babies by cutting into the back of the neck with scissors and severing their spinal cord."

One could legitimately blame this on the climate of hate and vitriol living in Planned Parenthood centers around the county.

No one should be surprised by this. The culture of death is a cult of death.

He missed the step where he was supposed to LEAVE THE HEAD INSIDE before he cut the spinal cord, so that the baby was not ‘technically’ born yet.

Then this would have been a perfectly legal late-term abortion.

But he pulled it out all the way...so, live baby. I would love to see someone cut his spinal cord with scissors.

Uh, how about conspiracy to commit murder? How about negligent homicide? How about Accessory After the Fact? At the very least, can we agree the entire government department that gets complaints about *MURDER* and takes no action needs to be shut down and all the so-called "public servants" in it get fired with no pension?

If a private company ignored complaints about an employee or contractor they are responsible for, and that ignorance led to the murder of eight people, there wouldn't be a lawyer in the country that wasn't lining up to prosecute them both criminally and civilly.

A ghastly wicked story, but it doesn’t sound much different than the late-term abortions whose legality is championed by some in the name of a “woman’s right to choose”.

These people are subhuman blood thirsty monsters.

All abortionists are murderers.

They deserve the same treatment as punishment.

And we are all supposed to pretend this is just fine, this complete removal of logic?

If he had instead killed those babies in pretty much the same manner while still in the womb then it was all hunky dory and he would face no charges, but a just a second or two outside and the very same baby is now a person and the doctor is guilty of murder...

when is the world going to wake up to the utter ridiculousness of this, it is all murder, end of story.

I am glad at least this butcher won’t be at his ‘work’ for sometime, but it is maddening that he is only getting arrested on a technicality rather than for a recognition that those babies are human whether inside or outside the womb.

Yep, this guy was being paid to make sure the kids are dead, and he made sure they were dead.

That is why he is a killer.
