Rep. Steve King: ‘Full Repeal’ of Health Care Possible by Cutting Off Funding (Just Do It!)

ABC News’ Rick Klein reports: Though GOP efforts to repeal President Obama’s health care law is almost certainly set to fall short, Republicans are already plotting their next steps – and are planning to use power over the government’s purse strings to block much of the law from taking effect.

On ABC’s “Top Line” today, Rep. Steve King – a main co-sponsor of the repeal effort – told us that he’s not giving up on the possibility that the Senate will also repeal the law, as the House is planning to do this week.

That means a new Republican president could sign “the repeal of Obamacare as one of the first acts of his new presidency,” in 2013, King said.

In the meantime, he said, Republicans can attack the law by cutting off funds for its implementation:

“We can bring about, in effect, a full repeal by just stopping the funding,” said King, R-Iowa. “It stops the collection of taxes and it stops, well, it stops the expenditure of the money and it stops the enforcement.”

The GOP ALSO needs to introduce their OWN version of health care to assuage people with legitimate concerns about the system, addressing things like pre-existing conditions, tort reform and banning use of federal funds for abortions.

Imagine how a story, or just the title of this story, would have made people on our side feel if it were applied to a program we like, for example, ballistic missile defense.

Oh, wait. It was. This is exactly the kind of story headline we got up the wazoo back in 1983, ‘84, ‘85, when the purse strings were held by Tim O’Neill.

Anyway, remember how this kind of story made us feel back then. Now multiply that feeling by ten. That’s how it makes the Obamanauts feel today, because (1) they live by their feelings to an extent we are not, (2) believe Obama is ordained by the stars to get whatever he wants, and (3) know, deep down (many of them, anyway) that their worldview is a lie, whereas we knew, even as Reagan was being excoriated by the left back in the eighties, that he spoke the truth and would someday be vindicated, as he is.

If they really had stones they'd write a bill that combines the increase of the debt limit to the repeal of ObamaCare.

The GOP House first needs to sign 2 bills, one for preexisting conditions and one for insurance on parents plan till age 26. After that tell the Rats that there will be no money for HHS until Obamacare disappears and once that happens then the Senate can preserve those 2 items even after Obamacare is dead.
Obama knows that with no money to HHS then it's dead but the GOP House has to be ready to play hardball.

I would start running 30second commercials with snippets of the bill.

And I would end every commercial with, “well, you have to vote for it to see what’s in it”

They’d better do this IMMEDIATELY. I’m already starting to wonder over their replacements in 2012 and 2014...

Imagine how inexpensively this could have been done. Couldn't the insurance companies come up with some kind of pool to cover these people? They could monotor it themselves (after all, those conditions started somewhere and at some time an insurance company covered it). That would have been cheaper for everyone then destroying our entire system for a few people.

I understand that very few people actually signed up for the pre-existing condition coverage.

The GOP ALSO needs to introduce their OWN version of health care . . .

That would be just as unconstitutional as Obamacare. The federal government should not be in the healthcare business - period. This is not a power delegated to the federal government! Just KILL the Bill, de-fund it and it will not be able to be implemented.
