The EPA just can't help itself

Not content with backdooring the unequivocally unpopular cap-and-trade legislation through regulating carbon emissions, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has looked to further cripple American energy producers, manufacturers, and businesses by blanketing the industries in bureaucratic uncertainty. Last Thursday, the EPA revoked a permit it issued more than three years ago for the Spruce No. 1 Mine in Logan Country, West Virginia citing the Clean Water Act

Mingo Logan, a subsidiary of Arch Coal, obtained the permit in 2007 after a decade of review and costly analysis determined the project to be in accordance with the CWA. Since obtaining the permit in ‘07, Mingo Logan invested $250 million in the project and hired 250 workers to begin construction and mining. The EPA ruling has brought the Spruce Mine to a standstill and will in all likelihood scuttle the project and the workers it employed.

Employers are taking notice. Businesses, manufacturers, public works agencies, and energy producers are wondering if they could be the EPA’s next target. The threat of legal fees and rescinded building permits is enough to keep businesses on the sidelines deterring investment until the fog clears.

You know, the real damage here is that most businesses of a significant size don’t plan only two years ahead, they plan 4, 5, 10, 20, even 50 years ahead (I know that paper companies plan 100 years ahead). Even if the dems are entirely out of the picture in 2012, the danger is that they can return to power every 2 years. So, why would any business invest in a plant/mine/refinery here with a 5, 10, 20 year lifespan, even after January, 2013?

It's real simple. We control congress.

De-fund the EPA completely. Simple as that. Let the libs scream.

First step is to get the message out that the EPA has nothing to do with protecting the environment and everything to do with destroying the American way of life. Let the people know the EPA can't be fixed. It must be eliminated. Technically it would still exist but when absolutely no one gets a paycheck I doubt many will stay around long. Next up: The FCC. De-fund and send everyone home unless you can afford to work for free. This is the only way to "fix" these rogue agencies.

Personally, I wouldn’t say we “control” congress until we have enough clout to pass Constitutional Amendments like:
1) Illegalizing Abortion,
2) Preventing the Federal government from assuming any debt that would result in a total debt 10% greater than all the funds present in the Treasury.
3) Declaring that any Income tax, either Federal or State, be of either a uniform rate or uniform amount, with NO exceptions, rebates, credits, or exemptions.
4) Prohibiting the seizure of any asset without a jury-trial for non-payment of any federal tax. (Yes, this means that the jury CAN nullify a single person’s tax-debt.)
