The inflammatory language in U.S. politics has surpassed acceptable limits. The warning lights lit up this weekend with the shooting of Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, at a community event at a supermarket in Tucson where an individual arrived, drew a gun, and opened fire.
He killed five people including a little girl, a federal judge and at the time of this writing, Giffords is in critical condition, struggling between life and death.
Giffords has been a lawmaker in the liberal-wing of the Democratic Party who has repudiated her state's controversial law SB 1070. She is an advocate of realistic immigration rules that would allow a path to legalization, with the goal of bringing some order to a broken immigration system.
And so the politicians of the Tea Party, led by Sarah Palin, have focused their attention on her and any politician that doesn't cling to their ideas and discourse of anger and violence.
As recently as last Novembers elections, Palin posted a map of the United States showing states with congressmen who were targets of her attacks in the crosshairs of a rifle. Twenty lawmakers were on this list. Giffords was one of them.
What was a metaphor for Palin, was a reality for the individual who showed up Saturday at a Safeway supermarket. He arrived with his gun in hand and opened fire on Giffords and those around her.
The rhetoric of intolerance in the U.S. is worrying. That was the message we heard from Obama, Palin, as well as politicians on the left and right, all alarmed by what happened in Tucson.
In Mexico, this intolerance affects us directly, because unfortunately, the brunt of it is aimed at immigrants - and not only illegal ones. Even if the primary suspect in the Giffords shooting isn't of Hispanic origin.
Besides repudiating politicians who disagree with laws like SB 1070, almost anything having to do with Hispanics, Latinos or Mexico is rejected in Arizona.
The New York Times published an article this weekend that recounted the unhappy fate of Mexican-American studies programs in Arizona schools. They have been declared illegal.
Branded as a propagandistic subject that brainwashes students into believing that Latinos are an oppressed class in the U.S., prohibition of the subject has now been passed into law, and as a result, current school curricula must now be dismantled.
Colosio might say hey wit a minute!
Colosio might say hey wait a minute!
This is like a bad movie plot.
Gee, with all the murders and drug cartels, I can see why this author chose to look like a hypocrite and blood libel Palin instead of reporting on the mess that is Mexico. She would be a ‘target’ for kidnapping, rape and beheading.
/more sarc-irony than I can stand.
Post of the day. You nailed it.
This is typical drivel from a chronic loser.
We have our slob “journalists” so I guess they’re entitled to theirs.
“Periodistas” de mierda.
HYPHENATION NATION Organized hyphenates, ethnics, tribalists, and amnesty peddlers are colluding----they finance misleading ad campaigns. The sense of entitlement and disregard for the US rule of law is nauseating. They are on their knees, all puckered up, sucking up to politicians for more and more freebies via the tax-sucking DREAM Act.
People suckered-in by the "here for a better life" scam should see this.

Illegals----May Day Marchers----plot to takeover the USA, shooting cops in the process.
SIGN: "You owe us America. We will shoot more Arizona police until we get free."

The Obama admin continues to tolerate this ntl-security nightmare for fear of offending the Mexican government, the National Council of La Raza, and other immigrant advocates....all of whom are providing Democrat voters to endangered Dems. This outrage is burdening taxpayers and corroding our sacrosanct system of laws.
Europeans have a very long history of incredible violence. Mexicans understand this from their experience with the Spanish.
We need to deport or imprison ALL illegal aliens, including their anchor babies, seal/secure the border with troops, a fence and wall, and have a lethal response to anyone trying to re-enter illegally.
Not Guilty But Insane.
I recommend that Ana Paula stays home in Mexico.
Mexico should change their name to Baghdad Bob , theys see nothing, they hear nothing, they say nothing, live in denial of there be any problems .When in doubt they blame America for whatever goes wrong. Drugs, leave the country without Mexico doing very much to halt it on their side of the border. Guns and cash flow in Mexico with few problems.Chances are corrupted officials will keep any money they happen upon and not turn it over. Mexico is in self destruction mode. Until they allow outside help, the more the country changes, the more it stays the same
Bunch of Caca!!!
I love the leading 2 sentences that follow this logic pattern...A butterfly flapped it’s wings in Central Park, a cold wind blew in over the Pacific coast...butterflies cause high winds.
I call him a terrorist anyway, anytime a person goes out to randomly kill as many people as possible (which seems to be the case, he may have had a primary target but otherwise seemed to be shooting targets of convenience) that seems to me to fit the definition of terrorism as well as mass murder or you could call him a serial killer who simply has a very short interval time between killings. Of course terrorism is not necessarily Muslim terrorism or political terrorism it can simply be terrorism of the sort practiced by Ken Rex McElroy, does anyone remember him?
Rifle Scopes have crosshairs but only those ignorant of what is seen looking through a telescopic sight would imagine that what Palin used represents a rifle scope. I don’t know about the map markers but they look EXACTLY like what are called register marks on offset printing plates. These marks are used to align images.
Only someone with zero knowledge of actual telescopic sights would imagine the crosshairs extending outside the circle or a frosted appearance inside the circle and crosshairs are not usually simple intersecting lines of the same exact size from one side of the circle to another.
On the other hand the bullseye figure used by the Democrats for the same purpose is well within the parameters of a normal bullseye target. Of course that is okay because they are Democrats, had they wished to use actual telescopic sight crosshair images that would have been okay because they are Democrats and their targets are Republicans.
Huh. The Mexicans were carrying out blood sacrifices to the Gods when the ‘violent’ Europeans turned up.
