Donated organs from the youngest victim of the Arizona shootings have been used to save the life of another girl.
John Green, the father of nine-year-old Christina-Taylor Green, said medical authorities had been in contact to tell him about the transplant.
Mr Green said the information had "really lifted" his spirits and that he and his wife were proud of Christina "who has done another amazing thing".
When asked if he would like to meet the recipient of his daughter's organs, who is from the Boston area, he said: "Oh yes, and I'd give her a big hug."
Christina had just been elected to her school student council when a family friend took her to meet Arizona congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and they became caught up in the Safeway shooting on January 8.

Precious, precious child. May her spirit live on. Among those involved in or related to the Tuscon shootings, she and her family stand out as gracious and patriotic Americans. May God comfort them in their sorrow and may Christina be showered with the Savior’s love in heaven.
I second your blessings for this awesome family who, in their time of loss, thought of others. May God bless and watch over them.
I’m curious how this child’s organs were harvested given she had such an extensive period of CPR & was pronounced in the ER. Or was this tissue donation & the media is perverting the truth, yet again?
Fox News just reported that two children received cornea transplants. I don’t know if any other of Christina’s organs/tissue were havested.
I suspected corneas would be harvested along with possibly heart valves, bone, skin, tendons. Thats a far cry from “organs” though. Leave it to the media to mislead
Definitely, one of God’s angels.
“May God comfort them in their sorrow and may Christina be showered with the Saviors love in heaven.”
There is no doubt in my mind that He is taking care of that.
What an unselfish, awesome thing to do.
We were wondering the same thing. I heard she was shot in the chest, (God love her) which probably would have excluded many vital organs.
God does indeed work in mysterious ways.........
I lost my brother back around 1997 to a drunk hispanic driver in Palm Springs, CA.......he was only 37 at the time. Literally all his organs were intact and able to be donated to individuals in need of them. I was told that 37 people would benefit from his death.........My only wish is that they were informed of what a wonderful and gentle person he was.............
Yes you are right - the heart & lungs would have been destroyed by the injury. But the liver, intestines, and kidneys wouldn’t have been usable due to the lack of perfusion during cardiac arrest & CPR. Very sad.
May God comfort this family. Truly a tragedy.
I’ve worked with many recipients of donor organs and my ex is a transplant surgeon. I can tell you most of these families include the donors in their daily prayers and ask God’s grace on them. Your brother is remembered indeed.
Funny - many of these patients report that post-op they suddenly acquire a new hobby or develop a taste for a food they previously couldn’t stand. And their families report subtle changes in their personalities. Donors do live on thru these people. May God bless your brother, you, and your family. I am sorry for your loss.
God Bless Little Christina.
Prediction time:
How many of her relatives and organ recepients will be in attendance for Obamas 2nd to last State of the Nation speech?
