I still know people who travel to Mexico, "Oh the tourist port cities are safe!" And I beg them no to go.

I know people who have endured corrupt police "shakedowns" in Jamaica. (Be careful renting cars in Jamaica.)

"Bargabonds" and their blithe attitude towards dangers can really tick me off. They don't understand that if they are not a hot blonde female and twenty years old, no one will care if they disappear in the tropics.

My brother and his wife have been to the Mexican resorts several times. You couldn’t pay me to travel there.

I once took a Mediterranean cruise that stopped in Barcelona, Spain. I was concerned that it would be just like Mexico, and a friend of mine who had been to Spain said, “trust me. Mexico doesn’t make a patch on Spain’s a$$.” He was right. Much different and better country.

I’d go to Cancun before I’d go to Jamaica. I’ve been to both.
