It was a bitterly cold night in January when Geraldine Weller gave birth in the car park of a London hospital. Three hours earlier, the maternity unit had sent her away. Midwives who said they were short-staffed had confidently told her that it would be "ages yet" before she went into labour. They maintained that view even as her husband made frantic phone calls, reporting from their Surrey home that the baby's head could now be seen.
In desperation, the couple ignored advice to stay put and drove back to the hospital. With her husband shouting into the security cameras of the maternity unit for help, Mrs Weller stepped from the passenger seat. As she did so, she gave birth to their first child, catching the newborn in one leg of her pyjamas.
She says: "We just huddled together. My husband came back and wrapped Henry in a bath towel, and finally one of the nurses came out and said: 'What's this?' "

Yet another reason why having a baby in the UK is a stupid idea. The islands need to be nuked into the sea.
There are plenty of examples of appalling medical care already in the US courtesy of a mega-corporate healthcare machine. It's just that acknowledging it doesn't fit the template.
Don’t blame the babies. Shoot the parents and put the babies up for adoption.
Nope, no hatred and vitriol here.
Sorry, but I hate the evil of Islam and I mourn the demise of England, the land which was once joined to America by a bond of consanguinity.
Taking it out on the babies is wrong. So instead -- circumcise them and rename them David.
You ought to learn the value of just shutting up.
:)

There is always Cuba, Mr. Moore.
Are you looking at the mote in my eye or the log in your tag line?
Name some. Tell us in all your vast experience the last time someone called 911 and they never came! Tell us, oh one of excessive knowledge, when he last time a person in need of treatment was denied that treatment in an American hospital. Eh....WE are waiting.
The truth is that we do not have a medical crisis in this country, we have an insurance crisis. Too many have found that hey can get all the care they need for free. They just show up and get it.
I'm sure it will be a complete waste of time in your case, because your perception has been effectively dictated by the polarization of the issue. In other words, you've been usefully idiotized.
For the record, googling the term "patient dumping" would give plenty of items on which to hone your copious and zealous denial skills.
Non-Sequitir-Award!
When someone says something really idiotic, say, in the passion of the moment, the mods can usually be persuaded to remove the post.
Get all the worthy Brits out first, let mohammed take over, then turn it to Trinitite.
I’m not pretending to be a nice guy. The leftists are worthless.
No! I was sure you were!
The idea that people are denied services in this country due to lack of resources is an outright LIE.
They may not get to have services when they want and where they want, but a little effort and they get them just the same.
Once again, name some. Name a patient that DIED because they where turned away from an American emergency room in the last twenty years. You can't. Once stableized the hospital has the legal right to place that patient in the local city or county hospital. This may seem harsh, but it is hardly the same as stacking people in hallways and delivering babies in vestibules.
