WASHINGTON --Reince Priebus was elected chairman of the Republican National Committee on Friday after Michael Steeledropped his bid to stay atop the party for another two years.
Priebus clinched the victory after seven rounds, securing 97 votes, more than the 85 required to win. Steele dropped out of the race after four rounds.
"At this time, I will step aside for others to lead," Steele told the168 RNC committee members at the Gaylord Resort in National Harbor, Md. "But in so doing, I hope y'all appreciate the legacy we leave. Despite the noise -- because lord know we had a lot of noise -- despite the difficulties, we won."

anyone that expects the RNC to elect a conservative is smoking something... these are establishment people. Our only hope is the tea party the republicans are just another brand of statist
Don't give me this "we won BS". The Tea Party won and you rode on their coat tails.
The TEA Party, as a political movement, has only two places to go ~ as yet another addition to the Republican party coalition, or to the Democrat party coalition.
You wanna' show us your hind-end, just go see how the Democrats treat you.
I just hope this guy is up to it. Most of us know nothing about him.
I take him as a guy who might do well among his cronies, but if they're not around he's programmed for inadequacy. That is, he's like so many bosses people have had brought in as the fresh new face of management only to turn into the shop floor idiot.
I think Sean O'Hannity share's my view on this and it's not anything about politics ~ it's about what happens in Working America every day ~ alla time ~ I've experienced it, and so has he, and we demand a tad more gray at the tmples of those who would be our leaders.
Let me get this implication straight.
and you rode on their coat tails
YOU was Steele, not you personally.
Can you explain how this process works? Who are the people casting the votes to begin with? Who selects the people to cast these votes is the 2nd question? The person just selected is someone I have never heard of, at least I knew Steele’s name when he was elected.
You stated: “The Tea Party won and you rode....” ~ I would suppose you know what you said!?!?!?!
Well, the RNC never ‘heard’ of the Tea Party until we took back the Nation a few months ago, maybe this is payback against us, a guy nobody ever heard of to.. ? do God knows what.
No I do not know how this process works.
“Can he raise money?”
YES!
“How do you pronounce his name?”
like the word, pints, only with an “R”.
“Is he a Rino?” NO!
“Is he a Conservative?” You Betcha!
WISCONSIN PROUD! YAY!!!!!

A couple of links may help explain the process.
Reince was still in college then. By that kind of simpleton thinking Michele Bachmann and Charles Krauthammer can't possibly be conservatives because they once were liberal, both well into their adult years. How far back do you want to go with your purity tests?
Later, as an attorney, he participated in cases in Milwaukee where he confiscated land from private citizens via eminent domain.
"Confiscated"? That parcel was purchased at a fair price by the City of Milwaukee from a corporation to fix a terrible freeway section. This is exactly the kind of public use our nation's founders intended when they added the Fifth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
He also worked privately on behalf of Wisconsin companies angling for huge stimulus payouts... at the same time the anti-stimulus RNC employed him as general counsel.
This is a pathetic complaint. I doubt you could find any successful attorney anywhere who hasn't do some work with companies involved with stimulus funding given how large a fraction of the economy it is. If you really believe there is something wrong with benefiting from stimulus payouts then you should personally boycott driving on any road with improvements funded by stimulus funding. Good luck with that.
He did some good work in WI, but the TEA Party really carried the water.
Ha!!! The first TEA party rally in Madison was organized and funded out of his WISGOP office. You are embarrassing yourself!
This is not the best guy for RNC chair, and it just reinforces the belief that the GOP is making backroom deals... again.
No, it just shows that there are ornery people like you who will condemn the Republican Party for whatever it does without a shred of evidence.
Settle down, Francis. The shrill tone of your hysterical, handwringing response is only painting you as apologist, which is further underlined by your “arguments”:
-Reince was in graduate school when he worked for the NAACP, not college. It was about ten years ago.
-Since when is a “fair price” justification for forcing someone off their land?
-If everyone is underhanded, it’s okay to be underhanded, too. Great rationale. Did you miss the part where he was working for the guys who were against the stimulus at the same time he was paid by companies lobbying for it?
-Are you reeeeeeally trying to say that Priebus was solely responsible for driving the TEA party in WI? Strictly speaking, it is a true grassroots organization: at the same time there was one raly in Madison, there were six ir seven other ones going on. The groundswell of the movement carried the elections, not the efforts of one person. Of course, if you have evidence that Priebus was able to solely motivate an entire organization which is by nature leaderless, please be my guest.
My point is that while he is better than Steele, he isn’t exactly the sort of bedrock conservative we should be looking for. If you knew anything about the namesake of your screen name, you might begin to comprehend that.
Okay, okay. I’m not sure how Conservative he is. But let’s give him a chance. I really think he can raise money so that’s a good start. Have faith!
Sorry, I don't take kindly to cowardly libel.
-Reince was in graduate school when he worked for the NAACP, not college.
And you accuse me of hand wringing! May I ask from which college you received your Master's Degree in Advanced Semantics?
It was about ten years ago.
So how many decades does one have to avoid internships with liberal non-profit organizations to pass your RINO purity test?
-Since when is a fair price justification for forcing someone off their land?
The Takings Clause of the Fifth Amendment to the constitution became applicable to the states with the ratification of the 14th amendment in 1868. You better catch up on reading your newspaper pile, Gramps, you are more than a century out of date!
-If everyone is underhanded, its okay to be underhanded, too. Great rationale.
Once the bill is passed, everyone has a reason to get a representative share of the taxes they put into it. Be sure to think about your hypocrisy the next time you take a tax deduction or drive on a public road.
Did you miss the part where he was working for the guys who were against the stimulus at the same time he was paid by companies lobbying for it?
I'd wager that you are against Social Security and Medicare, but you will cash their checks all the same.
-Are you reeeeeeally trying to say that Priebus was solely responsible for driving the TEA party in WI? Strictly speaking,
No, you are deceitfully misquoting me. The WISGOP, under Reince's leadership, organized and paid for the better part of the Madison TEA Party rally.
it is a true grassroots organization: at the same time there was one raly [sic] in Madison, there were six ir seven other ones going on.
Which are you referring to? Here in Wisconsin, the state GOP still paid for several of the big ones but maintained a lower profile after the first one in Madison.
The groundswell of the movement carried the elections, not the efforts of one person.
Sure, but Reince arguably did more than any other individual here in Wisconsin to win those elections.
Of course, if you have evidence that Priebus was able to solely motivate an entire organization which is by nature leaderless, please be my guest.
I never said he did, but he did sign the biggest checks.
My point is that while he is better than Steele, he isnt exactly the sort of bedrock conservative we should be looking for.
Based upon the libel and poor logic you have demonstrated here, you aren't a representative of bedrock conservatism.
If you knew anything about the namesake of your screen name, you might begin to comprehend that.
I have no doubt that even Ronald Reagan wouldn't be pure enough for you holier-than-thou sour pusses!
You need to get ahold of yourself, and pick up a dictionary. “Libel” is a false statement, solely for the purpose of defamation; “logic” is the creation of an inference, based upon the criteria of validity and demonstration. You may want to also look up the definition of “system building”. Everything I have stated has been easily-researched FACT. Your hysterical disagreement does not alter these facts, except perhaps in your mind.
These facts were used by me to infer that we may need to keep an eye on the newly elected RNC Chair, because his past choices are not neccessarily conservative. Again, you may disagree with my conclusion, but that does not alter the facts.
As for the rest of your babbling, you are so far off the mark that you should probably go back and read my definition of logical inference. How exactly does my being against corrupt lawyering make me against Social Security? “Gramps”? Cash SSI checks? You will probably not be able to put this together on your own, so I’ll help you: you’re an idiot for casting aspersions to my age as I have given you nothing from which to infer that. I’m 40.
If you claim the mantle of TEA party representative, you had better be prepared to back it up. The absolute last thing we need is another chameleon who changes his color according to which way the political wind is blowing, and Priebus is skating right up to the edge of that definition based upon his past political leanings. Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it, a’la George Bush and Scott Brown. Is Priebus better than Steele? Probably, but only time will tell.
As for my representation of conservatism, take a look at my posting history, dumbass, and think before you open your mouth: your misunderstanding of the words “logic”, “semantics”, and “libel” alone disqualify you from further discourse.
Libel is a false statement, solely for the purpose of defamation;
Your lie in post #4 that Reince is a RINO certainly qualifies for that definition.
logic is the creation of an inference, based upon the criteria of validity and demonstration [blah, blah, blah...]
None of this can justify your lies.
Everything I have stated has been easily-researched FACT.
None of which has done anything to support your libelous slur.
These facts were used by me to infer that we may need to keep an eye on the newly elected RNC Chair
No, you clearly presented them to fraudulently bolster your lie.
How exactly does my being against corrupt lawyering...
So you are adding even more libel to your failed argument? You are pathetic!
youre an idiot for casting aspersions to my age as I have given you nothing from which to infer that. Im 40.
I retract implying that you were innocently behind in your reading and I now assert that you are simply poorly educated.
If you claim the mantle of TEA party representative, you had better be prepared to back it up.
Yet another false statement. I never asserted that.
The absolute last thing we need is another chameleon who changes his color according to which way the political wind is blowing, and Priebus is skating right up to the edge of that definition based upon his past political leanings.
I have little doubt that Reince was more honest in both his past and current "political leanings" than you have been in this thread!
As for my representation of conservatism, take a look at my posting history, dumbass
If had to pick a word to characterize your posting history on this thread, that would certainly be the word!
and think before you open your mouth: your misunderstanding of the words logic, semantics, and libel alone disqualify you from further discourse.
The readers of this thread can only hope that you'll stop embarrassing yourself here with further discourse!
America? Count This Blessing!
Wisconsin Conservative Politics Ping List Ping!
“I just hope this guy is up to it. Most of us know nothing about him.”
Well, let’s see...
He raised millions for the WI GOP...while barely breaking a sweat.
In this past season he’s given Wisconsin:
A REPUBLICAN (not RINO!) Governor, Scott Walker
A Republican House (RINOs WERE fired!)
A Republican Assemby (Our ‘Senate’) and as above, RINOS WERE fired!
So far, now that we’re ABLE - Wisconsin has filed suit to overturn 0bamacare. We are moving legislation for CC through the chute. We have de-railed the BILLION DOLLAR BOONDOGGLE that was a choo-choo train running through Our Fair State, ferrying criminals from Chicago to the Twin Cities.
I could go on...and I will on other threads, LOL!
If you don’t count THIS amongst your MANY, MANY Blessings via Wisconsin you are blind.
You don’t know about him because the MSM won’t TALK about him! BUT - he’ll soon be as reviled as Sarah Palin is.
And then you can see for yourselves what FEAR he strikes into the hearts of Liberals! :)
Let’s sit back and watch the cash roll in to the RNC. And let’s sit back and watch it being used EFFECTIVELY for once in a VERY long time!
Reince will roust the RINOs or he will die trying. This IS the hill he wants to die on.
There is no doubt in my Military Mind. :)
(Quote me now and thank me later...beat the rush, LOL!)
