Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) one of President Obama's most strident critics praised the president's speech in Arizona at a memorial service for the victims of the Tucson shooting spree.
The Arizona senator and Obama's 2008 opponent penned an op-ed in the Washington Post, saying Obama "comforted and inspired the country" by calling for greater civility in the nation's political discourse.
"I disagree with many of the president's policies, but I believe he is a patriot sincerely intent on using his time in office to advance our country's cause," McCain wrote. "I reject accusations that his policies and beliefs make him unworthy to lead America or opposed to its founding ideals. And I reject accusations that Americans who vigorously oppose his policies are less intelligent, compassionate or just than those who support them."

John McCain was not “reprogrammed” by the North Vietnamese. This reminds me of the scams being run by Hendon and others who try to brainwash the families of the MIA’s to obtain money.
The knowledge gained by my tour in Ha Noi as the office manager of Det2, meeting with North Vietnamese counterparts, talking to American civilians with extensive knowledge on the subject. This conclusion is John McCain..was not reprogrammed or brainwashed. He was tortured but he is not a traitor.
Do I like his politics..NO. Am I defending his politics..NO.
John McCain endured great hardships in Ha Noi..does he deserve to be slandered while he was in the military. NO.
John McCain is no John Kerry.
**John McCain endured great hardships in Ha Noi..does he deserve to be slandered while he was in the military. NO.**
That does NOT give him a Pass for his current behavior, that of USEFUL IDIOT!!
**John McCain was not reprogrammed by the North Vietnamese.**
then give us another Cause for his Abhorrently UNAMERICAN Behavior!!!!
as McLAME did not, on the third day, rise from the dead, He gets NO PASS
His lack of empathy for Palin is telling, obviously the republican elite are as afraid of her as the democrats
Perhaps they are afraid she really does have integrity, and if elected would after seeing the corruption and how our politicians have sold America to the highest bidders, out them to the American people,
Face it the American people have to learn mandarin Chinese.
John knows and knew exactly what he is doing, he never wanted to be elected president, it’s all a scam.
Be assured I don’t take this as a defection. McBipartisan did that a long time ago.
Any conservative who thinks otherwise is a RINO—or worse.
McCain has done more to hurt conservatism and marginalize our Constitutiion than almost any Marxist I can think of. It says a lot about AZ voters who reelected this very confused old anti=patriot.
And please remind me about his POW experience. That was then, now is now.
Patriot, hell, he isn’t even an American!
Not sure how this fits in to your discussions, but (and please correct me if I am wrong) didn’t McCain during his GOP “acceptance” speech admit for the first time that “they broke me”, or something to that effect?
This was in the context of talking about his POW situation.
I saw a few minor rumblings about it right after but nothing more. It was quickly forgotten as the election race heated up and he began campaigning for Communist we now have in office.
McCain's playing with checkers. He defected years ago.
Well said. Right on. And Sho Nuff.
McCain had all those records sealed. So no, have you seen them?
If you seek first hand information regarding Juan's obstructionism, I suggest you contact former Sen Bob Smith (R), and former congressman Bob Dornan (R).
PS I don't recommend calling Bob Dornan a liar, to his face. If you are gonna do that, don't be within arms reach.
You may want to add General Hugh Shelton to that list.
What he was doing was blaming Sarah, Johnny boy. Remember? Your running mate? If that’s what you call “inspiring the country,” I feel sick.
Nice job, Juan.
You fought tyranny in Vietnam, but ally yourself with their modern day tyrants?
Imbecile.
The words were good and appropriate but I question the sincerity and his personal meaning. I know this sounds cynical but I only have experience to guide me.

..........except for Gov Jan Brewer. She is a Star.
Is he speaking for AZ? Actually, it is a long and UNDISTINGUISHED career in my view. But don’t tell the people of AZ that.
Excellent observation, and I haven’t seen this view before. He decided to keep going along with the flow to get along. People in AZ are nuts, if you ask me.
Hold on, DeMint is a backer of Myth Romney or was.
