Too bad Maureen Reagan isn’t still around to defend her dad. What an ugly thing for Michael to say.
I mean Ron.
My husband died from Alzheimers in 2005. The first symptom he exhibited was in 1993, when late one night he asked if his mother was still alive. She had been dead for 5 years. I attributed it to fatigue. In 1995 he was asked to retire from teaching at age 66. Having been transferred to a new school, he was apparently having some trouble remembering everything he needed to function well in a new location, although none of this was mentioned to me. By 1997 it was clear to me he was having short term memory prolems. Otherwise his memory seemed to be functioning as always. By 2002 he could not find his way home if he went out. Six months before he died, when he could no longer speak in sentences, we were watching TV. A well known politician said something outrageous, my husband exclaimed, “BULL SH—”. Although he could no longer speak, he still knew what he thought.
Thus I think it is entirely possible that President Reagan had early Alzheimers in the White House. I also think if he did it had no influence on his opinions and decisions. In the early stages I was able to fully compensate for my husband’s lapses. Reagan had plenty of staff and his wife too do the same I doubt I could have changed my husbands opinions about things and this was probably true for the President as well. I will be interested to learn more about his sons observations to see if I still agree with my off-th-cuff opinion.
Complete idiocy
Alzheimer's is not indicated by an inability to recall people, places and things from old memories, but rather the inability to commit new facts into memory.
Alzheimer's patients in their 80s can typically display sharp recall of events that happened when they were 5 and 10 years old, but not be be able remember what day it is, or who they spoke with an hour earlier.
Dr. Little Gay Ronnie is both uninformed, and a fool.
My thoughts exactly.....even in the early stages of Alzheimers (if it’s even true), he was a better president than a young, Ivy-league-educated, idealistic, liberal puppet....what a guy!
>> He lied about his Dad to get a buzz about his new book? <<
Could be. But I think it’s just as likely that he didn’t write the book and doesn’t completely know what’s in it. Still, he remains responsible. Therefore, either way he comes across as a worthless liar.
Skipper, he was still so much smarter than you that to this day I wonder whether Michael was the real biological son.
Bingo. Also, that "He was having brain surgery and they found Alzheimer's" thing seems fishy to me. I've never heard of a surgical diagnosis of this disease.
My father also had Alzheimer's while I was his son. /s
The short-term memory loss thing is scary.
I am interested in what she has to say!
I suppose it is “possible” Reagan could have been on the fringes of early Alzheimers. Then again, how many of us are sharp as a tac at that age, remembering all names, faces, places, etc.? I’m 45 and cannot recall what I had for lunch today!
That said, even if Reagan was in the FULL throes of Alzheimers as POTUS, he would have STILL been a better president than the Marxist turd who is sitting there now!
Reagan was the best POTUS I will ever see in MY lifetime!
Wow, it effected him to the extent that instead of being a brilliant debater he was merely an effective debater, and he couldn’t name a few canyons north of Los Angeles.
I am at a loss for words how much the world suffered because Ronald Reagan was elected for a second term despite it being during the onset of Alzhimers. /S!!!!!!!!!!
Not looking good for the book claims.
Opponents insinuating he had Alzheimer's was a standard attack on the older Reagan back when he was in office along with claims about abortion, homosexuality and infidelity.
This sorry little excuse for a man has one big problem- he has never been, nor will he ever be, a fraction of the man his father was and still is. How sad for Nancy that what she has left is this pathetic little weasel and his nutjob sister.
Youtube is full of Reagan speeches.
Pull up some of his later year speeches and judge for yourself whether or not he seemed “out of it.”
He was the best POTUS!
why couldn’t they say the “liberal” Ron Reagan...he and his worthless sister sold out his father during his 8 years as president
Maybe it was all an act.
