The Wilding of Sarah Palin (From a recovering liberal 2009)
American Thinker ^ | Nov 24, 2009 | Robin of Berkley

Posted on 01/13/2011 7:51:06 PM PST by Islander7

When I was in college, I read a book that changed my life. It was Susan Brownmiller's tome, Against Our Will: Men, Women, and Rape, which explained rape as an act of power instead of just lust. What I found particularly chilling was the chapter on war -- how rape is used to terrorize a population and destroy the enemy's spirit.

While edifying, the book magnified the vulnerability I already felt as a female. Fear of rape became a constant dread, and I sought a solution that would help shield me from danger.

The answer: seek safe harbor within the Democratic Party. I even became an activist for feminist causes, including violence against women. Liberalism would protect me from the big, bad conservatives who wished me harm.

Wow...extremely well thought out.

She congealed many things I had known into something that either you hate of love. That is the way of truth.

I’m humbled.

You might find the conduct of the left’s Sainted Soviet Union disgusting.

I didn't read Ryan's book, but other sources (mostly periodicals) that I've read describing the fall of Berlin made the point offered by German survivors, that frontline Soviet troops, the ones with the most combat experience, were professional and businesslike. It was the troops that followed along later that did the rapes and murders.

(Art.)But the biggest shock of all has been realizing that the Democratic Party is hardly an oasis for women. Now that it has been infiltrated by the hard Left, it's a dangerous place for women, children, and other living things.

Wakey, wakey, girlfriends. The Democrats had a chance, but they blew it when they refused to throw the SDS neo-Stalinists out on their ass back in the 1960's -- the Red "Progs" wound up doing their Alinsky shtick in Chicago and took over the party.

My other epiphanies: those ponytailed guys were marching for abortion rights not because they cherished women's reproductive freedom, but to keep women available for free and easy sex.

Wow, she figured it out. Rare thing.

Nailed it.

My father once told me that people don’t really change after about age 12 or 14. Their personality is locked at that point.

And like the author of the piece, nothing shows that more than a high school reunion.

They can never forgive that, any more than Southern men can forgive Sherman for destroying their great grand daddy’s patrimony, for much the same reasons.

Oh, please. I think comparing an oversized, hyperventilating cat fight to Sherman's March to the Sea is just a little bit overdoing it! C'mon, poster..... Sherman was, how to say .....more serious .....

That all said,

Palin’s clear ‘walk the walk’ position puts them in an automatic guilt condition. They can try to spin it but at 3AM the ghost of children lost come back to haunt them.

Wow, just wow! I don't think I've ever seen that point made that bluntly. That is a dry-ice railroad spike right through the heart of liberal feminazism.

But hey, call it what it is -- evil, and remorse, and diseased, hardened hearts that have no rest in this world or the next.

Post of the month.

A truly excellent article, and the best in-depth analysis of the causes of "Palin derangement syndrome" that I have yet seen.

GO SARAH!

Good post but I'll take issue with one part. I think Todd is a little more successful than you give him credit for. He is a hero in Alaska, more popular than she is with some folk.

Perhaps he should have been pumping up his daughter's self esteem a little more. The only criticism I have, but I really don't know.

I do always feel uncomfortable when, on Free Republic, we trash liberal women like Michelle O or Nancy Pelosi, not because of their beliefs but because of what they look like. Having said that, I have joined in. I’m a “What Not to Wear” girl so do enjoy discussing MO’s rather outrageous fashion offenses and Nancy’s botox. I find it offensive, as an old lady myself, when rich old ladies overdo on trying to look 20 years younger than they really are.

What you have described is also precisely the same psychological mechanism upon which Islam is based, except tailored to a primitive, brutal and barbaric plunder-based culture.

Whatever Muslims desired, robbery, plunder or pillage, murder, rape or domination and enslavement of those who opposed them, they were superior because they did it with Allah’s approval.

“While edifying, the book magnified the vulnerability I already felt as a female. Fear of rape became a constant dread, and I sought a solution that would help shield me from danger.”

No one should walk through life with that kind of fear. My sense is that he world was in chaos way before she assigned a cause to it. Very sad.Glad she woke up but my sense is it is still there.
