Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.) will introduce legislation next week capping ammunition magazines at 10 bullets, she announced Thursday.

Since the tragedy, however, Republican leaders have aligned themselves squarely against gun reforms proposed even by members of their own party.
The 1994 assault-weapons ban included the same 10-bullet cap, but that law expired in 2004.
Like the assault-weapons ban, McCarthy's bill will ban high-capacity magazines manufactured after the law is enacted — meaning it doesn't prohibit possession of those made beforehand.

No, I’m no way that sophisticated. I go to the range and shoot at stationary targets 7-15 yds. away.
I’d love to go to a real school, Mad Ogre’s would be my first choice but that is just because I’d love to take a drive up that way.
I’m definitely not trained in defensive pistol, I’ve just shot a handgun all my life and like to think I could do it in a moment of stress. Prolly not gonna happen I know, but it’s better than being pure sheep.

How, Ms. McCarthy, is this limitation relevant to that which allegedly initiates it?
Which is why I refuse to ever learn to shoot with BOTH hands. I am not interested in becoming an expert target marksman. I want to be able to shoot one handed and hit a human size target with multiple rounds.
I figure I can get the job done.
