"To prove that they had registered their "motor vehicles," each rider would have had to attach a license plate to their human-powered transportation that would read "BICYCLE," reports NJ.com.

My intention was never to impose a burden or additional costs," Tucker said in a statement. "My goal was to at least begin a discussion of how best to protect elderly pedestrians. No idea is perfect, but protecting elderly pedestrians deserves attention."
Tucker says that her bicycle-plate bill was inspired by several senior citizens who called her and complained about kids on bikes. "

lol, what an a-hole.
NJ gone mad.

Hey you kids! Get off my sidewalk!
We need a law to attach license plates to each politician that reads "DUMBASS".
registering, tagging, and recording the manufacturer’s serial number would greatly reduce theft and resale of stolen bikes.
In buffalo when I was a kid.(50’s &60’s) we had small metal tags afixed under the seat. We school year we registered our bikes at school.
What about those adults who ride bikes? Will they be required to have all that as well?
Will there be a fee and taxes?
Inquiring minds want to know?
LOL
Lost here.
So all the bicycles in the state would have the same license plate?
That would narrow the identification process.
When I was a kid in Toledo we got bicycle license plates but it was a one time thing and registered the bike’s serial number in case it was stolen.
A little tag on a bike is not only going to protect senior citizens but it will ENSURE that kids ride safer. How nice.
Didn't BillEngvall create the prototype?
Gee maybe next week she can take seriously the complants about people walking on their lawns?*eyeroll*

In the 70’s here in Tx the Fire Dept came to our school every year, they would give us a bike safety class and record the serial numbers on our bikes, we would get a little card (hehe like a license)w/serial number written on it and that we passed bike safety—something like that.
I just recall it was way cool! So were paper drives— we got to have all day out of class and were outdoors for both.
As an old person I found that my cane, which I found on the side of road, is my best protection against rabid two wheelers, along with my .357 when they get uppity.
“Will there be a fee and taxes?”
BINGO

You mean VOLUNTARY, don’t you?
This was obviously a tax diguised as something else. Why else make it mandatory and charge a fee.
