Oakland City Council member won't face DUI charges
Oakland Tribune ^ | 1/13/11

OAKLAND -- The Alameda County District Attorney's Office has decided not to file charges against Oakland City Councilmember Ignacio De La Fuente for drunken driving, claiming there was not enough evidence to pursue criminal charges.

De La Fuente was arrested and booked into jail last month by the California Highway Patrol on suspicion of driving under the influence. The CHP said at the time that De La Fuente was driving erratically and failed a sobriety test.

We will bring you updates as more information becomes available.

Of course this alone was not enough to justify pursuing a DUI charge, as it would undoubtedly have been if, say, Sarah Palin had been behind the wheel.

For a 'regular person', that is enough evidence to bring DUI charges -- but for member of the 'elected elite' it is, apparently, not.

This alone is enough to file charges anywhere in the US. It is the job of the court system to find out if it is proper or not, not some crony Rat DA.

FYI to all, De La Fuente is an amnestied illegal alien who "arrived" in Oakland back in 72 or so (no one really knows, since um, he's "undocumented") and got work as a steelworker.

His kid's a rapist, he's a drunk, and additionally an international criminal who not only gets away with his routine crimes, but elected to make laws in the United States.

And everyone in the East wonders why us remaining Americans in the West are so upset over the whole thing.
