Texas woman, 24, receives “nominal” settlement over incident
JANUARY 13--The woman who sued the Transportation Security Administration after her breasts were exposed during a frisking at a Texas airport will receive a “nominal” payment from the government as part of a legal settlement, The Smoking Gun has learned.
The settlement was disclosed in documents filed last week in U.S. District Court in Amarillo, where Lynsie Murley last year filed a lawsuit accusing the TSA of negligence and intentional infliction of emotional distress in connection with the May 2008 incident at the Corpus Christi airport.
Murley’s lawyer, Jerry McLaughlin, declined to disclose the exact amount of money that his client is receiving, but termed the payout a “nominal settlement.” Asked if the amount hit six figures, McLaughlin laughed loudly and said the negotiated payment was “way less than that. It wasn’t a whole lot of money.” Murley, he said, “was never interested in the money,” and would not have filed a lawsuit if TSA officials had simply sent her a letter of apology.

I can’t speak to you; but for 5 figures, I’ll flash the ‘Full Monty’. Given the choice between a new Lexus and a 2 second flash of my privates - or 5 years of car payments... I’ll go for the flash every single time.
Why is money the only way out? The money will come from taxpayers - not the real culprit in this mess. Wouldn’t a better, and more fitting punishment be for the offending agent to make a public appology, have a disciplinary report added to their file, and life moves on? No one was hurt; embarassed - yup ... hurt? No.
We all face accidental embarassment all the time. I had a waiter accidentally dump a glass of cold water on my crotch, so I walked around looking like I had an accident. Was it malicious? Nope ... we move on. Accidents happen.
Why was she wearing a top that held the ‘girls’ so precariously? She was going to an airport, she knew that she would go through security; it’s not like it’s a big secret. This smacks of a pre-meditated money-grab. Can I wear the paper dress my Doctor makes me wear, to the airport - then sue when I go through the air gust machine and my package is displayed?
Oh ... someone saw my hoo-haa’s and the ONLY thing that will make me feel better is $$,$$$.

This evidence does not put the case into sharp focus. While I suspect that a nominal awared is a miscarriage of justice, I must insist on more evidence, before I can reach a final judgment.
