The 1980s song Money for Nothing by the British rock band Dire Straits has been deemed unacceptable for play on Canadian radio.
In a ruling released Wednesday, the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council says the song contravenes the human rights clauses of the Canadian Association of Broadcasters Code of Ethics and Equitable Portrayal Code. A listener to radio station CHOZ-FM in St. John's complained last year that the song includes the word faggot in its lyrics and is discriminatory to gays.

I wouldn’t doubt it! Mark Knopfler is my favorite guitarist and I have heard this song many times. Am I the only one who can’t understand the words?
But give a pass to the numerous songs that irreligiously slander or slight Jesus.
I’m much more offended by the reference to MTV.
I can not find those words on ANY of their recordings of Money for Nothing ,, the original lines went like this “ see the faggot with the earing and the mink coat ,, hey buddy that’s his own thing ,, that little faggot got his own jet airplane ,,, that little faggot he’s a millionaire “ . My classic rock band plays this song and we have used those lyrics for years . Mark knofler was poking fun at Elton John in this song I believe .
In the Live album On the Night, they use the “F” word just once. Knopfler mumbles the lyrics:
See the little faggot got his earrings and his makeup on
‘Tell you but it’s his own hair
That little mother got his own jet airplane
Little mother trucker he’s a millionaire
