5:10pm Bassil: We announce our resignation from government and we turn to the prime minister to speed up the formation of a new Cabinet.

* 6:45pm MTV: Hariri left Washington for Paris where he will meet with French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
* 6:35pm Speaker Nabih Berri received a telephone call from Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa during which they discussed the latest developments.
* 6:30pm Al-Arabiya: Hariri interrupted his visit to the U.S. and he will return to Beirut Thursday morning and meet President Michel Suleiman upon his arrival.

According to the article I posted earlier this morning, it was one of President Suleiman’s follower’s in Parliament who would tip the balance and go along with Hezbollah.

The President and the Prime Minister discussed united efforts with France, Saudi Arabia, and other key interntional and regional actors to maintain calm in Lebanon and ensure that the work of the tribunal continues unimpeded by third parties.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Lebanon’s coalition crisis on Wednesday was a transparent attempt to subvert justice but vowed that the work of the UN-backed special tribunal would continue.
“We view what happened today as a transparent effort by those forces inside Lebanon as well as interests outside Lebanon to subvert justice and undermine Lebanon’s stability and progress,” Clinton told a news conference in Doha, Qatar, where she is attending a meeting of regional leaders.
