Add to Paul Krugman, Clarence Dupnak, Chris Matthews and Sherrod Brown the name, Lincoln Chafee, who joins a growing chorus of stooges building a narrative around the straw-man, talk radio. The governor of Rhode Island, Mr. Chafee will institute a "no talk policy" for state officials, banning them from speaking to radio hosts. A spokesman tells the Providence Journal:
"Talk radio is essentially ratings-driven, for-profit programming and we don't think it appropriate to use taxpayer resources to have state employees use work time to support for-profit, ratings-driven programming."
The same policy is in place for television, right? It is also for profit. Maybe the brilliant Jr. Chafee will only ban them from Fox. Of course, Fox may actually be the only for ‘profit’ new outlet at this point.
Do I have this right? Using the radio as a means of communication to the people of Rhode Island by their government officials is considered a bad thing? Do they give interviews to TV reporters? To newspaper reporters? Or do they exist in a ruling class walled city, with the serfs outside the walls?
I am amazed at the intellect of the citizens of RI in choosing this creep to be their chief executive. Was the alternative candidate even worse?
So no newspaper or television (PBS excepted, of course) interviews either then?
LOL! Pretty good description of big-government liberalism.
Of course, that will also include no Campaigning, right?
The people of RI continue to prove they are brain dead.
Chafee continued, "This order will save the State of Vermont aproximately 10 bazillion dollars. The assembly will be sending me a greatly increased spending budget that accomodates this gain."
A stopped clock is right twice a day. I would like government at every level to fire every flack and PR flunky. The government should never talk to the press. Rather the people should observe the government and decide what they think of things on their own.
When the government spends your money to tell you what to think, they are looking after their own interests, not yours. It is worse than a waste of money. It is spending money for counter-productive purposes.
Doing THAT is a complete waste of liberals’ time.
When did Rush ever have to depend on guests?

Here’s the problem with most voters as I see it ... most vote based on either PARTY AFFILIATION ( e.g., I’m Democrat so, to hell with the issues, I tick the D row ), or NAME RECOGNITION.
It has been said that in South Carolina, close to 400,00 voted for Al Greene over Jim DeMint.
Many voted because they Greene was a Democrat or Al Green is a recognized name ( no he’s not the famous singer, but who cares?).
Luckily, Jim DeMint has been there long enough to garner close to 65% of the vote. But what disturbs me is this -— a significant number of South Carolina voters are totally UNTHNKING ZOMBIES.

Don’t you mean Rhode Island, or is Chafee just confused?
LOL. Like network and local TV news isn't?
Sorry, RI.
Evelyn Wood fails me again!
SInce Chafee is a state government employee, if he should ever go on talk radio or a TV talk show (radio with pictures) he should be called out for the hypocrite that he is.
Oh that pesky First Amendment!
Uh-huh. I see. The first amendment does not apply to the Rhode Island Plantations.
Mr. Chafee is a very strange man.
What’s he afraid of, ay?
The truth, I’d say.
Is the Rhode Island State Government telling their employees that they can’t appear on the talk shows even if they do it outside of work?
Oh, thank you for that link! I hope it gets shared everywhere on the internet.
