Appearing on television recently, former Hillary Clinton campaign adviser and current public relations executive Mark Penn suggested that President Obama needs a moment "similar" to the tragic terrorist attack on the Oklahoma City federal building, in order to "reconnect" with voters.
He didn't even seem to flinch in making the comment.

Penn is currently president and CEO of Burson-Marsteller, a multi-national public relations firm. He also served in 2008 as chief strategist for then-Senator Hillary Clinton's run for the White House. Before that, Penn advised former British Prime Minister Tony Blair in his third run for the UK leadership post, and served clients such as AT&T, Texaco, Ford, Merck, Verizon, BP, McDonald's and Microsoft.

I can’t help but wonder if this was one of the “voices in his head” that the shooter followed—if, in his own deranged mind, he thought that by doing this, he would help the ‘Rats to achieve their goals.
Reminding his audience of two important facts
1) Mark Penn noted that Obama needs an OKC-bombing "situation" (Hardball November 2010 I think) and
2) ardent Democrat and Pima Country sheriff Clarence W. Dupnik very possibly personally knew of that dangerous nutcase.
Rush did not make the connection but..
is it possible that -- though neither the White House nor Sheriff Dupnik knew exactly what would happen -- they figured that nut case was close to acting and they knew of at least one Congressional target.
I seriously doubt that they expected that he'd go as far as he did, just some kind of violence would serve their purpose.
I believe Loughner’s defense is being provided by the person who defended the Unabomber, and also Timothy McVeigh. It seems odd.

No wonder Obama is going to Tucson to speak at the memorial service. This is his OK City bombing moment. This is his crisis that he cannot let go to waste.

Connect? This guy is so cold and removed from humanity it makes me shudder.
He looks at OKC as purely a political event. How many steps is he from planning such a “political” event to help The One connect?
No life, no light in his eyes. A cold flat delivery of almost 200 people being killed as a good event that helped Clinton “connect” with people.
I guess, if the people are not in pain Clinton can’t be shown feeling that pain.
They really do hate us - it’s so obvious...
I don’t think he hears voices - that’s a dem wet dream. He’s a big time pot smoker and uber liberal. That combination would make anyone sound nuts.

It’s getting bazaar, to say the least.
It’s working, It has thrown the Republican agenda in the House for a loop.
I don’t think so. A one week delay to make arrangements for someone to carry on for Rep. Giffords during her recovery is necessary, appropriate and civil. Another gesture would be to move her legislation rolling back Congressional salaries 5%. That should be the first bill introduced (IMO).
I don’t think the other side has derailed anything. And I think the Republicans will respond with class, dignity and purpose in very short order.
More evidence of the hypocrisy of the Left.
In ONE incident of GWBush, they complained that advertising images he used “politicized” the tragedy of 911.
YET, the fact is that there is almost never NOT a time when the Left uses ANY TRAGEDY THAT SUITS THEIR PURPOSE as a TOTAL political tool - totally converting the tragedy into a totally political event - to spin the story - regardless of evidence - for THEIR political agenda.
Obama may try to get some advantage out of this in speeches, but he is going to have to be subtle. There will be backlash should he try to blatantly take advantage. I predict he will try to appear as statesmanlike as possible.
The fact that the left believes Obama needs a "Reichstag fire" to retrieve his fortunes is a testament to how low he has sunk.
The MSM is trying to give him excuses... trust me - they'll believe anything he says that distances him from being "gay, liberal, pot smoking or all three. The MSM didn't do the same for Timothy McVeigh... somehow they knew - as soon as they found out he was on the right - that he was a monster.
That's how it works. Guilt is determined by the MSM based on if you're with THEM or not. Does anyone wonder why the MSM isn't trusted? Oswald - the guy who killed Kennedy was tagged as a rightist who was influenced by the rhetoric of the hateful South. Turned out he was a Communist, but what the hell - the MSM had the story they wanted to believe.
Have you noticed that there's no quilt by association when the killer is on the left? We're not getting a list of the clubs he belonged to - the bars he hung out in - the causes he cared about... The MSM can't find that stuff when the killer is one of their own.
