Krakatau Volcano, Indonesia Eruptions from Krakatau volcano, Indonesia have forced the evacuation of tens of thousands residents. Seven districts affected are Kalianda, Rajabasa, Katibung, Sidomulyo, Ketapang, Sragi and Palas. On Monday ash from Anak Krakatau continued to cover residential areas in parts of Banten province and South Lampung. Visual observations showed ash emissions reaching a height of 600 m and drifting east. Ashfall has affected the operation of seismometers on the volcano. Fisherman and tourists are advised to stay at least 2 km from the volcano.
The 1883 Krakatoa eruption had a VEI of 6. The scale goes up to 8. Krakatoa 1883 was a very big eruption, but typically does not make the list of "biggest ever".
***Krakatoa Katie, she aint no lady,
When she starts to shake her sarong!***
First time I ever got turned on by a Mouse at 10 years old! Boy could she dance!
I immediately noticed the error in the title when the movie originally was released--I was in high school at the time and was astounded that a big Hollywood movie company could make mistake that any student who passed a class in geography as a freshman could have caught. However, over the past several decades, it has long become obvious to me that geographical and historical knowledge are not the strong suit of most Hollywood screen writers and producers.
LOL!
I saw this on a Mighty Mouse episode when I was a kid. He tied the top shut with something.

when i heard they got the title backwards, I just HAD to go see it. i’ve had a fascination with krakatoa for some time, and besides - it had a boat in it. IIRC they changed the title when they ran it on TV...
The EPA should crack down on that volcano AND Mother Earth for creating a mess. Make it buy carbon credits, pay more taxes, reparations... /s
Ping!
Nice graphic Thack...
Awesome stuff. Thanks for the link. I used to love Mighty Mouse when I was a kid.
Residents are told that there will be no tsunami.
It is the international date line thingy. East turns into west when you pass the 35th terminator. I larned it in publik shcool last year. You guys are so dum!
If this thing blows I wouldn’t want to be 200 miles near it.
Before Krakatoa erupted big way back (way way back) Sumatra and Java were connected. The “island” was just the lava mound in the center of the blast rebuilding itself.
The “Last Days” have been going on for 2000 years.
The “End Times” are the times at the end of the Last Days.
The Terrytoon mouse characters were drawn far more anthropomorphically than Disney or MGM, especially the female ones.
But I learned back in grade school that the year 1816 in North America was called “the year of two winters”, or “eighteen-hundred-and-froze-to-death”. Was that also due to Krakatoa?
What people need to be afraid of is the ice age that this historic graph predicts. Imagine the exodus from Canada and the other northern states and countries and far south countries.
