That is a good question. Why didn't they have a warrant?
Do you know they didn't have a warrant or are you assuming that they didn't have one because the parents were blocking entry?

Beter question: If they showed up without a warrant in their hands, YTF did they NOT have one already??? My guess:
1. Save time from calling a magistrate
2. They want to go on a fishing spree for evidence. Warrants (and probable) need to specify what it is they are searching for (IE computers, papers, weapons, etc). General searches aren't allowed....unless they are consented.

"Family members of Jared Loughner apparently had put on 4-by-4 double-thick plywood that blocked access to the front porch of their north Tucson home."

Legally, they can block the FBI without a search warrant into perpetuity. I expect law enforcement will get one pretty soon if that’s the case.

If they weren’t there already, the scene is totally compormised.
Something stinks.

Could it be possible that both parents have conspired to commit ‘suicide by cop’ - and thus the baricade?

That sheriff was politically prepared alright. More concerned with that than doing his job, (I heard they’re dem elected there, don’t know). Then again, wasn’t he the one that didn’t want to carry out his duties re: immigration?
Kid was a druggie, I haven’t heard a reference to the cartels or the rancher killed in her district... or if the conservative federal judge played a role somehow.
Bottom line, what would anyone on the right get out of doing this to a blue dog dem while there were the top dogs destroying since 2006.
Who would benefit?
Oh, did everyone see this? It’s like Clinton all over again.

Mom was some sort of clerical employee for the state if early information was accurate. It might also support just why someone as crazy as the little bastard was unchecked. He had a previous weed arrest and it was dismissed under some special deal. In Arizona if you get caught with weed, it's right to jail.
There are a lot of details on this little devil which need to come out.

Thanks.
I have to remind myself that even I could report news better than Sheppy. Geraldo’s an admitted socialist/progressive hack, and Juan was handed his hat by them, but still goes along for the ride most of the time.
And don’t get me started about Colmes. He reads his faxes from the DNC well, though.

For all I know, the parents may just not want their son to get the death penalty. That’s understandable, and if God forbid I ever get put in a situation like that, I’d probably do the same thing. Blood’s thicker than water.

Id give them coffee and maybe even danish once theyre in, but no warrant = no entry. Im not waiving any of my rights ever for any reason. Smart girl. Never, ever waive your rights when the cops are knocking on your door asking to come in for a 'quick look around'.
Ever.

How long is a warrant good for? Can they come back days latter with it or do they need a new one?

If the FBI “had” a warrant already; I say get ANOTHER one!! Hell, get one for every day of the week. Leave nothing for a criminal defense to cry foul about...
