"Ashley Turton, a former senior aide to Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.), was found dead early Monday morning in a burned car on Capitol Hill, her employer said.
Turton's employer, Progress Energy Inc., confirmed reports that she was the woman found by the D.C. Fire Department in the pre-dawn hours on Monday.
In a statement, Progress Energy CEO Bill Johnson called Turton a "valued employee" and a "dear friend to many of us."
"This news is very hard to take. I know we all will keep her husband, children and parents in our thoughts and prayers, he said. "Today is an eventful day for us as employees of Progress Energy. Ashley’s tragic death reminds us all to keep perspective in all things."
Ashley Turton was married to Dan Turton, the White House liaison to the House of Representatives. "
The story probably bears watching...closely.

No mention of a wreck so that leads me to believe that it was murder and then the perp tried to burn the body to hide the evidence.

Very strange...the article claims it was in her garage and then at the bottom of the article they claimed that it ‘looked like a crash’!

hmmmm..who crashes into their garage with such force as to set their own car on fire? Bizarre. She was also married to an Obama aide.

Odd how many of the the ‘white’ White House staff are leaving or losing family members in unexpected deaths.
Of course, it could be she took a smoke break in her car, and fell asleep with a lit cigarette. If only they would let people smoke in the break room, things like this wouldn’t happen.
You would think she would have been able to escape the car in short order if it just caught on fire though.
Geez with that pic a Helen Thomas pic would be an improvement.
They have to get rid of those in the know before the congressional hearings begin. How much stimulus money did Progress Energy get from Obama anyway?

Thanks for the link. I went and read the article. Interesting the way the first sentence is worded. Almost as if she was dead before the car caught fire.

I’m not saying Rosa and Perry Farrell the rock singer were separated at birth. I’m just saying she’s technically old enough to be his mom and they look a lot alike.
The news, nowadays, really isn’t. Not enough information in any article today to really claim you’re ‘informed’ about anything that happens.
Watching Fox and Friends this morning (first time I had to shut it off due to the positively estrogen-soaked coverage of the Arizona shooting) and saw the quick piece they did on the LATEST bird kill.
They piece claimed scientists said that OVEREATING was killing the birds, and Doocy to his credit muttered ‘yeah, right’ after Kilmeade mentioned the speculated cause. Even the newsreaders aren’t buying what their editors are shoveling any more.
Liberal politcs has killed science, and there are no such thing as journalists anymore.
A low-speed crash and a fire that kills the occupant? If the word ‘accident’ was used anywhere in the article, it is plain and simple speculation.

I can think of more than a few elegant ways of killing somebody in a car. One would be to use a device that disabled the automatic electronic lock in that shiny BMW and then ignited a fire bomb that burned the occupants without blowing up the car.
I think I would have opted for using a tank of CO however. She’d have died in her sleep instead. I guess, however, if you have the moral indifference to killing another human being, you may not care about whether your intended victim suffers.
