“The sheriff should not have approved his CCW.”

So...if someone has “a history of confrontation with school and local LEO”, then they lose the right to self-defense? If you flip the bird at a teacher, or call a cop an ass (not smart, but not illegal), then you should no longer have the right to defend yourself from criminals?

Do you REALLY think someone like the Pima County sheriff, who believes the people of Arizona are hate-filled bigots for opposing democrat policies, should have the right to decide who can carry a gun?

Hell, no - the last person on earth I’d want to give discretion in deciding who gets to defend themselves is a corrupt Democratic LEO like Dupnik. Fortunately, AZ has eliminated the CCW requirement so he has no say in who gets to carry in his county.

This guy went beyond that. He had a record. If we can believe the sheriff he had multiple contacts with LEOs over death threats. We know his college didn't want him there unless he had a mental health evaluation and was certified as not being a danger. The school now, of course, says they didn't alert law enforcement because they didn't believe he was a danger. That seems like legalistic CYA.

Something went wrong between the school alerting the parents, and perhaps meeting with them, and the guy legally obtaining a firearm a couple months later.

In all probability he'd have found another way be it making a bomb or using a car as a weapon.

In San Diego, it's virtually impossible to obtain a CCW and a lawsuit challenging the difficulty is under appeal.
