This article goes on to describe in detail a series of email correspondences between Wheeler and his classmates from West Point '66, describing his lucid state of mind and facility with computing in the days prior to the murder.

Frowning takes 68 muscles.
Smiling takes 6.

I don't understand all the BAD information here!
Jack was coming in from Washington D.C. to the Amtrak
station in Wilmington. His car was parked at the Doubletree
hotel garage about 4 blocks away, (on RT 13) which he never made it to.
(His car was later found still in the garage.)
Amtrak_Doubletree hotel wilmington
Under normal circumstances he would have gone to the garage
and got in his car and drove to his home in New Castle.
Somehow Jack went to the wrong garage 4 blocks farther up the street.

Really not hearing anything new here.
I just repeat that I think something happened to him at his home later in the day on Tues. the 28th or Wed morning the 29th - medication problem, TIA, I don’t know what - but he was at the drug store by Wed Afternoon, not himself and with very bloodshot eyes, according to the pharmacist.

I've been unable to stay up to date on things, but a discrepancy is bothering me.
Earlier articles say that Phoebe Dill (friend of Katherine Klyce and Jack Wheeler) said she last saw Mr. Wheeler her husband dropped Jack Wheeler off at the train station on Christmas Eve. This evidently came from interviewing Mrs. Dill.
But if that was the case, why would his car be in Wilmington?
Later reports put his car near the Wilmington train station, supposedly parked there on December 13. So, what happens to the story of him being dropped off on Christmas Eve?
In any case, he gets off the train in Wilmington and somehow makes it to New Castle without his car. But with the report of the TV blaring and the car in Wilmington, it makes me question the whole Phoebe Dill thing. Was this noted as an error or misunderstanding or something already?

Please add me to your ping list. This has already disappeared from news sources and I’d like to follow as much as possible.
Thank you.

Since we are speculating and have no real idea what happened, how about tossing around a new possibility.
John left his car at the garage closest to last meeting he had(Dec. 13). He had other business that day, and for days to come, so he just left it for a couple of days to keep from having to mess with it.
One of the meetings he had scheduled was between Dec. 24-26. It is a planned secret meeting. He gets the neighbors to drive him to the station, but of course does not tell them where he is actually going. They leave, and he instead goes in a different direction. It is expected to be a two day meeting, so he brings a change of clothes. Meeting does not go well, measures are taken and he is then delivered back to a “logical location” where he stumbles around for a while before it is discovered that he is “not dead yet”.
Wife makes no public statement because if it is known that he never came to New York then it would be difficult to trace things.
The messages received by him during this time are described to be different from his usual tone, more brief in nature and less jovial. Further, one message has attached to it, the phrase, “onward and upward”. This has meaning, but what? Who had control of his phone if he didn’t?
Could he have circled back to his house for this meeting, having established a cover story with the neighbors? Then he is off’d (the killer thinks) his phone is deposited in the under-construction house, he is taken across town and dumped, but then he’s not dead!
The pharmacist did not want to drive him? Why? Did he fear getting involved with him? Did the pharmacist give him the money he said he had after that? Was the pharmacist a connection?
This law office that specializes in intellectual property... what was John working on? A computer game? A new weapon?
I just think it is interesting to approach this from a different perspective to see what scenarios develop.

Don't know if you've seen this AW, but
Delaware Online has created a webpage that gathers all of it's news articles dating back to the beginning of this mystery. It includes a time-line, videos and photos. It's a good place for folks just getting on your pinglist to get up to speed on the history of the case.

AW, this is the only source I've found that contains the actual complete text of the ME's official news release:
The State Medical Examiner says that John Wheeler, whose body was found on New Years Eve at the Cherry Island Landfill in New Castle County died as a result of blunt force trauma after he was assaulted. Wheeler, a former Pentagon official who was instrumental in the creation of the Viet Nam Veterans Memorial, was reportedly seen just days before his body was found seemingly disoriented and wandering around Wilmington with no coat and carrying one of his shoes.

Do you think it would be a good idea to have the Mods change the title of the thread to something like Ongoing Information Regarding Jack Wheeler’s Death, or.....does anyone have any thoughts?
