Aspiring politician Christina-Taylor Green was born in the midst of tragedy on Sept. 11, 2001, and died Saturday morning while trying to meet Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.
The strong-willed 9-year-old third-grader had gone to meet Giffords with a neighbor when she was shot. She died later at University Medical Center.
Her neighbor was shot four times and was recovering from surgery Saturday evening.
Christina-Taylor had just been elected to the student council at Mesa Verde Elementary School and had been interested in politics from a young age, her father, John Green, said Saturday night.

Her birth date no doubt helped inspire Christina-Taylor's interest in politics, Roxanna Green said. She was one of 50 9/11 babies featured in a book called "Faces of Hope."
"She was born back east and Sept. 11 affected everyone there, and Christina-Taylor was always very aware of it. She was very patriotic and wearing red, white and blue was really special to her," her mother said.
"She was all about helping people, and being involved. It's so tragic. She went to learn today and then someone with so much hatred in their heart took the lives of innocent people."

my sincere condolences to Dallas Green and his family....
RIP dear child. Prayers for family and young friends.
Hope the badly injured neighbor doesn’t blame himself or receive any from the green family. Christina will undoubtedly be remembered by school, city, state, the USA, and its citizens, for what she stood for, and that should give her family consolation as they mourn her passing, which ultimately could be a far greater blessing than a tragedy.
Someone else pointed out that 1/8/11 is exactly 119 days after 9/11/10.
Then of course if you add up 8 + 1 = 9, then the year ‘11.
Her mother is going to give a statement on Fox news in a few minutes from now.
I would love to see her rip the media for blaming Palin and the right for this...
So sad to have have her life cut short in such a tragic way.
But even worse is she is only one of the early casulties, the loony left is boiling and want mass violence more than anything. Many more will die at their hands.
This is a very large metro area, though it has nothing on Phoenix. Tomorrow I will go to work in a nest full of liberals who will practice their legendary transference as I appear, and expect me to confess my crimes and those of people who think as I do. The two minutes hate will be on display.
We cannot win against them with logic because they aren't logical. They have a religious and mystical belief that they are the noble, caring, wonderful practitioners of what is good and equal. Since they can't handle logic, their mental abstractions immediately translate into a worldview replete with good and evil, the very polarities they accuse us of. In addition, the media constantly tells them what to think and who to love and hate, along with pretty colored sets, serious looking men, and chatty cathy’s.
I use ridicule to shut them up. Putting the dumbest look on my face I can summon, I always start with: “You're right again. Of course disagreeing with Democrats leads to mental illness. It's a form of mental illness. Yeah.....Gosh you guys are smart. Wow!”
Then they leave me alone until next time.
Since she was shot 4 times, it makes me think that maybe she was trying to protect/shield the young girl?
Since she was shot 4 times, it makes me think that maybe she was trying to protect/shield the young girl?
Certainly possible, or awfully close to the shooter, or a little of both.
God of all mystery, whose ways are beyond understanding,
lead us, who grieve at this untimely death,
to a new and deeper faith in your love,
which brought your only Son Jesus
through death into resurrection life.
We make our prayer in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
Prayers up for her family. His eye is on the sparrow.
My goodness, I don’t know how you do it, putting up with two liberals at home and driving each day to a hornet’s nest of liberals. You’re a better man than I, Luke21.
