Even before the shooting of a congresswoman on Saturday, the state of Arizona was in the throes of a convulsive political year that had come to symbolize a bitter partisan divide across much of America.
The motives of the alleged shooter, who wounded Democratic Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and killed six people in Tucson, are not known and they may not be political.
But after an acrimonious election in November that followed months of bitter exchanges, politics looms large in the wake of the shooting and a local sheriff pointedly blamed hateful political rhetoric for inciting violence.
"When you look at unbalanced people, how they respond to the vitriol that comes out of certain mouths about tearing down the government," Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik told a news conference.
"The anger, the hatred, the bigotry that goes on in this country is getting to be outrageous. And, unfortunately, Arizona I think has become sort of the capital. We have become the Mecca for prejudice and bigotry."

I haven’t heard one word about the Republican, Bush appointed Judge who has been killed in this shooting. Olberman is disgusting. You can see the hatred and anger in his eyes.

Dupnik declares immigration law an 'embarrassment'
"The state's sweeping immigration law is a "national embarrassment" that Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik said he'll enforce only if he's forced to.
"This law is unwise. This law is stupid, and it's racist," Dupnik said Wednesday. "It's a national embarrassment. … If I were a Hispanic person in the state, I would be humiliated and angered."
Somehow, some way, we cannot let the media sell this as what happens when a country has free speech and RIGHT WINGERS are allowed to spew their “hatred, bigotry.....” etc! As if no other group has spawned or “triggered” bad behavior. The “trigger” may have been politics for this schizo crazy kid, but the panic over this is out of proportion. Look at how we were supposed to forget about Fort Hood almost the moment it happened, so as not to tar all Muslims as crazy terrorists.....there are more crazy Muslim terrorists than schizophrenic loners, lets face it. I’m so worried; it begins........
The exact same liberal emotional clattering about the conservatives' criticism of JFK caused Oswald to assassinate the president.
Never mind that Oswald had ties to communism and had earlier attempted to assassinate a prominent conservative and former Army major general.

Olbermann was just on MSNBC claiming that all the rhetoric that caused this idiot to “snap” came from the Tea Party and Palin but nothing he has said would have incited such violence.

The job of any law enforcement officer in America is to do their job with impartiality and professionalism. Sheriff Dupnik’s comments are inexcusable and somewhat ironic, considering the circumstances.
