NYT, WASH PO COMMENTS GO VIRAL against Palin, Tea Party, Glenn Beck, guns and Talk Radio
New York Times ^ | January 8, 2011 | various

Posted on 01/08/2011 2:35:22 PM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

NYT: “….During the fall campaign, Sarah Palin, the former Republican vice-presidential candidate, posted a controversial map on her Facebook page depicting spots where Democrats were running for re-election; those Democrats were noted by crosshairs symbols like those seen through the scope of a gun. Ms. Giffords was among those on Ms. Palin’s map….”

COMMENTS:

[snips]

--Stop this tea party madness. One civil war in our land is quite enough.

--Well, the shooter is a "real american" (as Palin would call him), not a mexican or muslim. My prayers to her family.

--Glenn Beck has spent the better part of the last two years inciting violence and hatred. This is what all of that has come to. Take that man off the air, now.

--How terrible. Such violence is an unfortunate reflection on our uncivil political scene and inadequate gun control laws, and a tragedy for all the victims.

--Terrible, sad and scary news, but not unexpected given the climate of hate since the election of Barack “Hussein” Obama, like the fringe and some irresponsible politicians like to call him. The state of Arizona seems to get crazier by the day. And it’s no surprise that the Tea Partiers and their ilk are so fond of Arizona because it’s at the forefront of many of their battles. Hopefully this is not the way the rest of the U.S. is going. Scary indeed.

Assuming that these shooting was politically motivated (wouldn’t it be a terror attack or is that term only applied to Muslim extremists?): this is a huge warning sign for the President and his security staff (“be afraid as we might be coming for you next”). And the ideological culprits can most likely be found in talk radio, and a certain cable news organization....

Washington Post [snips]

The time is now to get Glen Beck and Rush Limbaugh off the air.

I want accountability for the American airwaves. These two are beating the bushes to bring out the crazies. Its working.

Giffords on MSNBC in March 2010 right after her office was shot up night of her vote on healthcare bill..."Over the course of the last several month, our office corner has really become a part of the area where the Tea Party movement congregates and rhetoric is incredibly heated. Not just the calls, the e-mails, the slurs...we are on Sara Palin's, the way she has it depicted is she has the crosshairs of a gun sight over our district and when people do that, they’ve gotta realize there are consequences to that action..."

Uncivil? Uncivil??

What party did the Speaker of The House represent when she said, “You’ll find out what’s in the bill when it’s passed”? Is that civil?

A local Arizona journalist interviewed on NPR said that Judge Roll recently certified and allowed a 32 million dollar law suit to proceed being brought by illegal immigrants against a rancher. Since his ruling he has been the subject of ridicule by local conservative radio, has recieved threats and was assigned a security detail for 30 days (past). His home address and addresses of family was publicized on AM radio.

Giffords’ latest opponent was a vocal 2nd Amendment supporter and raised campaign bucks by holding shootings where you could pay to shoot a fully automatic weapon.

Expect to hear references to Sharon Angle’s warning of imminent “2nd Amerndment remedies”.

The PR onslaught has begun.

The time is now to get Glen Beck and Rush Limbaugh off the air.

Very ironic seeing as she was self-described "honored" to read aloud the First Amendment on the floor of the House. Ah, liberal jerks and their knees.

Do they even have a managing editor at the NYT & WP anymore?

This is beyond disgraceful. It’s more like incitement or criminally negligent.

Obviously these people don’t listen to Beck. He’s constantly saying people should NOT be violent and he prays for obama’s safety. He says violence is what he left wants. Again, these people never listen to any conservative radio or TV yet they “quote” what’s said. Simply shows their stupidity.

As I said on another post, it’s a stretch to think Palin could incited a left wind nut to shoot a blue dog (according to the media) democrat.

The anti-God, anti-American nut who killed and wounded these Arizonans is a liberal Democrat who loves Nancy Pelosi. The state-run media will drop this story by tomorrow.

Funny how they never seem to notice scumbags like Frances Fox Piven or Van Jones openly calling for violence in speeches.

Buncha freakin cowards.

“Rush will will have a field day with this on Monday.”

Imagine what Savage will have to say! This nut-case Laughner, based on what I’ve read so far, sounds like a far left wacko. Of course this will be spun differently by the MSM, which is already pinning this event on the usual right-wing suspects.

Get out the popcorn. This is going to be a long movie.

BTW, is it me, or is FR loading very, very slowly? I can go on Drudge and pull up any story and it pops up quickly. Everything on FR that I click on takes forever and sometimes times out.

MORE from the (obviously hysterically happy) looney left:

—”Well, another Fox newsperson is responsible for another killing. First, O’Reilly has someone to kill a doctor, now Sarah Palin has solicited someone to kill a democratic congress woman. How long will the American people tolerate these violent wingnuts? Maybe O’Reilly and Palin should be charged as accomplices. Maybe that would tone down the violent rhetoric of the wingnuts with their Bibles, their constitution and their guns.

—THE FRUITS OF HATE TALK IS HATE VIOLENCE.
It gets you “warmed up” and points you in that direction.

—As proof that conservatives are second-class citizens just read all the kook posts that attempt to justify this monstrous and definitely unconstitutional act.

—I have known from the beginning that Tea Partiers were evil enemies of democracy, but now they have sunk to a new low. Boehner is revealing himself as an enemy of democracy, too. Who does he think he can fool by claiming to be against this assassination? He has been fueling the anger with his wicked, lying rhetoric for two years now.

-—If anyone was wondering when the out-of-control rabid right-wingers were going to start open violence, it was January 8, 2011.

Okay, all you regressive anarchists - and I mean GOPers, republicans, teabaggers and other anti-American right-wingers - your propaganda machine and moronic “leadership”n preaching all the hate and fear they have thrown up for the last 40 or so years, I have a question or two.

Your morons caused this problem. How are you going to stop it?

You have been telling lies for decades to whip a mob up into a violent state. When are you going to start telling the the truth?

Why does the right-wing in this country prefer violence over reasoning?

I say round up every last right-winger who has stirred up the mobs and lock them up. Guantanamo awaits.

Making a list we can start with: John Boehner, Mitch McConnel, Newt Gingrich, Sarah Pallin, Ton DeLay, Bill Frist, Hailey Barbour, Dick Cheney, Darrel Issa, Rush Limbaugh, News Corp (talking heads and the management)...”

As Rahm says. "Never let a crisis go to waste."

These scum want to take our freedoms away. That's what they want to do.

Expect new assaults on our 2nd Amendment rights. Expect push for speech restrictions. We need to be prepared to fight any restrictions proposed. They want blood. Give them hell instead. The shooting sucks, but I didn't do it, and will not take any blame for it, nor any restrictions for it.

I wonder what they'll say if it officially comes to light he was not "right wing." They'll just say he was "mentally ill" and bury the rest.

From what I saw of his YouTube videos, he was an atheist and concerned about mind control, currencies and calendars.
