Reports: John Edwards engaged to Rielle Hunter
By: Jennifer Epstein January 6, 2011 06:18 PM EST
Former presidential candidate John Edwards is engaged to longtime mistress Rielle Hunter, according to a report.
The Jan. 17 issue of the National Enquirers says that the ex-North Carolina senator asked the mother of his lovechild to marry him only three weeks after burying his wife, Elizabeth, who died from cancer. The couple is said to be tying the knot some time this summer.
A copy of Elizabeth Edwards last will and testament made public on Wednesday left all her possessions to their three children - Cate, Emma Claire and Jack - and included no mention of John, her husband of 33 years.
Heartless cheater defies Elizabeths dying wish, screams a line on the supermarket tabs cover. Below that: Rielle tells his two young kids: CALL ME MOMMY!
An Edwards spokeswoman declined to comment and Hunters lawyer didnt immediately respond to messages seeking comment.
I do know that I love him and that love is till death do us part, and probably beyond, Hunter recently told GQ magazine. We have a child together, so at the very least we will be co-parents together.
The Enquirer has in the past been both right and wrong on the Edwards-Hunter relationship.
The tabloid first broke the news in 2007 that the two were having an affair and the paper later revealed the lovechild she gave birth to in early 2008 was fathered by Edwards, and not by his former aide Andrew Young, as had been claimed.

I agree. His cruel betrayal likely hasted his wife’s death. In cancer cases and some other illnesses, one is advised to avoid stress. I disagreed with many of her views, but I never wished this kind of end for her.
Thank you for doing the dirty work today.
Question is, would he have been a worse president than hussein? Hard call for me.
Agree with you completely, EXCEPT I prefer to call Silky the “Breck Girl.” I giggle every time I hear that.
Watch..the Skunk and Skunkess will have a big to do which will include all the kids..I hope the older ones tell the Skunks to shove it.
I was no fan of Elizabeth. And she played a part in the cover up of this mess so that her hope of being FL would come true. But the kids don’t deserve any of this.
I’m going to play devil’s advocate here...so what? If he’s found love, good luck to him. He’s paid the price, he’s lost everything. I don’t begrudge him love like some here would.....from all accounts Elizabeth was a shrew. Sometimes men cheat for a reason, not saying it’s right, just sayin’.
(How’s that for playing the devil???)
What a swarmy, steaming piece of dung Edwards is — all his money won't wash his sins away.
Makes sense to me. What’s he supposed to do, remarry his dead ex-wife?
I’m with you. And all the gossip about her last will has gotten out of hand.
I have no use for J.E. but enough is enough.
Well, we know what DOES wash away sins. Even Edwards'. If he accepts it.
Really eye-opening (not to mention hilarious).
John Edwards is just trying to rebuild his cred with Democrats for a 2012 presidential run.
His behavior gives him a boost with Democrats, of course, and this will help him in the primary, but normal America will reject him in the general election, I’m pretty sure.
Your comment was preposterous. Complete dripping bull.

Hmmmm. Oh, contrare. I re-read my posted comment and found it to be a fine observation, broad in scale and pure poetry, sprinkled with humanity and lovliness, something of the hue of a setting sun, a morning sunrise, a highnote in prose, ethreal. /s
What it was not, however, was similar to your own stagnant pool of prose; judgemental, narrow minded, grudgingly bitter and overly indulgent with the personal snit against a fallen man, or, ...snotty, actualy. You don’t have to thank me. /s
Well done!
I stand on my previous comment regarding your post as being preposterous, complete bull.
My mercy is quite mine to give any time I am so inclined.
Unless you are a seer, or a member of the ravenous press whose adrenalen flows to destroy the already destroyed, I harbor doubts that you have a clue as to Edwards sense of sorrow, humility or attonement. The man has buried himself from public view, as he should, and has never attempted to defend himself, as he should not, but his life in ashes will never be enough for the blood sport types who would prefer a nice round of stoning.
