Insiders: Romney Is Top GOP 2012 Contender, Daniels Second (Beltway love these guys, should you?)

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney continues to hold the pole position for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination in the latest National Journal Political Insiders Poll. But the surprise runner-up to Romney was the two-term Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, who moved up from fifth place when the last ranking of the potential GOP White House contenders was conducted a year ago.
Romney's assets and liabilities are well known and haven't changed much since last January. He has a national network of political and financial supporters left over from his unsuccessful run for the 2008 Republican nomination, a command of economic issues derived from his days in the private sector as a corporate turnaround artist, and the hard-won experience from have run for the presidency before.
But Romney must also figure out a way to convince Republican activists that the health care reform measure that he signed as governor of Massachusetts is different from the national health care reform passed by Pres. Obama and congressional Democrats that is anathema to the GOP rank-and-file. He also has a perceived authenticity deficit. Romney "probably knows more about macroeconomics than most but will need to learn to speak or appear more genuine," cautioned one Republican Insider.
SLIDESHOW: More on the Insiders' picks.
Daniels has taken few obvious steps to lay the foundation for a prospective 2012 candidacy in the last year, but Republican Insiders nonetheless have gravitated to him as the lead alternative to Romney. Daniels is seen as having a solid conservative record as governor, particularly in controlling state spending. Yet there's still doubt about how effective a candidate he'd be. Daniels "has the credentials; needs to work on his charisma," said one Republican Insider.

You are essentially acting as a RomneyBOT who falsely blames Massachusetts
voters for ROMNEYCARE.
Wake up, FRiend. They did not vote on it.
Here are the bastards who did:
"One of the traditional methods of imposing statism or socialism on people has been by way of medicine..." President Ronald Reagan Death Panels imposed by Mitt Romney (ObamaCARE=RomneyCARE).

These Beltway types just don’t get it, do they? I will either check or write in Sarah Palin on my 2012 ballot. If I cannot do either, I will stay home. I will never, never, never again vote for someone who can “win” and deny my conscience. Never. Get it?

re: glad you clarified the term Rear Deja Vue
LOL. I guess it has multiple meanings. I can't tell you how tired I am of hearing the names we we hear last time. With the remarkable exception of The Gipper, and he was remarkable in EVERY sense of the word, names from previous election campaigns are like soup made last week from left-overs from the week before. Yuck.

You need to get back on your meds.
It is clear you see Mitt Romney as somebody worse than Satan, ObaMao and Karl Marx combined whereas I see him as just another RINO in the same mold as the Bush and Rockerfeller families.
The retarded voters in Massachussets elected Mitt in the first place because they thought he was liberal enough. The would not have re-elected him the second time because they thought he wasn't. RomneyCare had nothing to do with it. The fecal matter hadn't even hit the fan yet and the average Massachussets voter thought it was a wonderful idea. I'm not saying it was, but at least it was confined to one liberal turd state.
Remind me how much ObaMao won the state by in 2008 when ObaMao care was one of his key platform issues. I can look it up and tell you if you are too lazy to do so.
P.S. How many pictures in your glorious photos are of liberal Democrats? Here's a hint: They greatly outnumber the RINO governor seated at the table.

The "insiders" can kiss my @ss.
I will fight as hard against Romney as I do against any Democrat. And I have never said that about any Republican before--including Arlen Specter.

Have we heard anything from Romney on the DADT repeal? That would be entertaining.
Why yes, as a matter of fact, we did--back in 2008...
Cooper: Governor Romney, you said in 1994 that you looked forward to the day when gays and lesbians could serve, and I quote, "openly and honestly in our nation's military." Do you stand by that?
Romney: This isn't that time. This is not that time. We're in the middle of a war. The people who have...
Cooper: Do you look forward to that time, though, one day?
Romney: I'm going to listen to the people who run the military to see what the circumstances are like. And my view is that, at this stage, this is not the time for us to make that kind of...
Cooper: Is that a change in your position...
Romney: Yes, I didn't think it would work. I didn't think "don't ask/don't tell" would work. That was my -- I didn't think that would work. I thought that was a policy, when I heard about it, I laughed. I said that doesn't make any sense to me.
And you know what? It's been there now for, what, 15 years? It seems to have worked.
Cooper: So, just so I'm clear, at this point, do you still look forward to a day when gays can serve openly in the military or no longer?
Romney: I look forward to hearing from the military exactly what they believe is the right way to have the right kind of cohesion and support in our troops and I listen to what they have to say.
There you have it. Typical no-core-values Romney. On both sides of every issue.>

Yep, Romney has changed so many of his positions you have no way of knowing what the real ones are. His current one seems to cover him.
McCain was like that in 2008, adopting all these conservative positions he was recently against to build a contrast between him and Obama. I found it sickening. The whole election was pathetic, they were our best?
