UFC Fighter Jacob Volkmann Calls Out President Barack Obama, Gets A Visit From the Secret Service (UPDATED) Posted on January 5, 2011 by Damon Martin
Jacob Volkmann
UFC lightweight Jacob Volkmann, following his win over Antonio McKee, declared that he wanted to fight U.S. President Barack Obama for his next bout. His words got him a visit from the Secret Service on Tuesday.
Volkmann, who is based out of Minnesota, told MMAFighting.com after his win over McKee that he wanted to face Obama because he disagreed with many of his policies.
Well, if anyone ever wondered if a potential threat against the President goes unnoticed, you just got your answer.
It happened on Tuesday, I was coaching youth practice, and then two guys came up and one of the other coaches that was helping me out, they said there was a cop and another guy out there waiting for me, Volkmann told MMAWeekly.com. I went out there and the guy introduced himself and said he was from the Secret Service and he wanted to ask me some questions about UFC 125 and my quote. He said there were people calling in to D.C. telling them that somebody, me, was threatening the President.
The interview was a formal process due to any potential threat made against the President, but it should be the close of the matter for Volkmann. The reason for the investigation wasnt because of the original interview after his fight, but because someone alerted the authorities about a threat that was made.
This guy had the whole interview on a piece of paper and it had my picture and everything, said Volkmann. He was like is this what you said? and I said, yes it is. Hes like I want to let you know Im a little embarrassed for coming here and doing this because obviously nothing happened. He actually apologized for coming, but he had to come. He wanted to make sure I wasnt going to D.C to hurt the President.
The thing is, I got home and I checked my e-mail and I had about 20 e-mails and one of them, one of ladies had actually contacted the FBI and the Secret Service, and she was telling me that she was going to do it.
The person who contacted Volkmann, according to the fighter, was a member of the election committee that worked for President Obamas campaign.
Volkmann was successful in his fight at UFC 125, and also mentioned a possible future fight against Clay Guida. It appears that one is much more likely than the Obama confrontation.
The Minnesota based fighter, who is also a chiropractor, wanted to clarify the statements he made in the original interview as well, because he says that was the reason most people seemed upset with him in the first place.
People were misunderstanding the point of view I was going for with the health care plan. Thats why they were getting so upset. Im thinking about the provider, Im a chiropractor, so Im thinking about my point of view, not everyone getting insurance. They dont have to worry about getting denied, which is good I guess, just not good for health care providers, said Volkmann.
Still happy he spoke his mind, Volkmann says the Secret Service considers the matter closed at this point.
I sure wouldn´t want soetoro´s likely AIDS tainted blood on me.
MM, I agree with your description. However, what I was responding to was a statement of how free the US was 70 years ago or so. Even though the worst that our Japanese had to experience was forced removal from homes, thousands of dollars of personal and business loss, locked up in camps with inadequate heating, blankets, etc. in winter, and a generally miserable existence, this does not compare with a deliberate campaign of wholesale murder. On the other hand, I don’t consider that as a particularly FREE period, either. Also, my father was constantly facing the draft, a denial of freedom which no longer exists.
Regarding sons in war, my son’s company of the 82nd airborne was “on mission” in August of 1990 when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait. For two days I tried desperately to reach him by the Ft. Bragg public telephone number. The line was always busy. Then there was no answer, they were all gone, on their way to Saudi Arabia. A small group of 2,000 or so who with the Saudi military were facing Iraqs more than 100,000 battle experienced troops across the desert. They sat (thank God) from August 1990 to Jan. 1991, when the counterattack began. His group was in Iraq a day before the general public information about the start of the land war. About 3 months before Bush II invaded Iraq, I asked him how many troops he thought would be needed to successful conclude the invasion. He said about 450,000. Bush sent under 200,000. After a year Bush’s guy Bremmer(sp?) said we should have had 500,000.
*Your memory is pretty good except that they werent concentration camps a la the Nazi or Russian/Communist style.*
Um, a concentration camp is a concentration camp is a concentration camp.
Sure, we had no labor or extermination camps, but we sure did have concentration camps.
This country hasn’t been free since Woodrow Wilson was elected, in my opinion.
OH,1861, that great year when several million people in this country were slaves, and could be whipped, branded, hunted with dogs, dragged back from free states if they succeeded in escaping their imprisonment, have their wives and children sold away without any recourse, etc. And, of course, women could NOT vote. And, were there still property requirements for voting? I am so glad this has always been a free country. NOT!! Oh, wait, I guess it was free for about 20% of the population, maybe?
We incarcerated an entire people, because of something that happened in Hawaii.
- something that happened in Peru convinced FDR about the camps. Peru had serious problems with espionage from Peruvian Japanese.
The Founders didn't want women , those under 21 , non property owners, and imbeciles to vote, that's why they left it up to the states to set the requirements for who gets to vote, and the States followed the Founders lead and didn't expand the franchise.
4 Amendments and Motor Voter later, guess which groups now have the vote and regularly exercise it to put Communists in power?
As far as the slaves, seems the tables have been turned.
Try not paying the IRS and see what happens to you, I'd rather take my chances with the dogs.
Seems like the descendants of the slaves are the masters now, just voting themselves more and more of the guy in the big houses money, who is under penalty of imprisonment for non-compliance.
John Adams to James Sullivan on the suffrage (1776)
The same reasoning which will induce you to admit all men who have no property, to vote, with those who have . . . will prove that you ought to admit women and children; for, generally speaking, women and children have as good judgments, and as independent minds, as those men who are wholly destitute of property. . . . Depend upon it, Sir, it is dangerous to open so fruitful a source of controversy and altercation as would be opened by attempting to alter the qualifications of voters; there will be no end of it. New claims will arise; women will demand the vote; lads from twelve to twenty-one will think their rights not enough attended to; and every man who has not a farthing, will demand an equal voice with any other, in all acts of state. It tends to confound and destroy all distinctions, and prostrate all ranks to one common level.
So much for free speech. What about when all the libtards created and said all those anti Bush things during the Bush years?
Quite the "entertainer."
Soooo,
When does the secret service start sending its storm troopers around because of our thoughts?
“So if anyone ever wonders if a potential threat to the President goes unnoticed...”
B.S.
Couple years ago I saw an interview with that kingsize jackass LeBron James in which he was asked who he’d most like “to dunk over.”
Kingsize jackass said he’d like to bring down the rim on George W. Bush.
Of course that was reported in light of James’ failure ever to get it up at all in games or situations of any consequence.
Maybe the Secret Service knows Kong James ain’t gonna get it done.
You are correct! I know a couple of these guys personally and they are as conservative as they come. They aren’t protecting Obama, they are protecting the President. That is there job. Are all of them conservative? I doubt it, but the ones I know don’t care for his policies any more than you or I.
This UFC fighter should have known it is frowned upon to pick on girls.
Most people I know have said far worse than this guy.
The S.S. (How appropriate initials) are going way over board with this threat business.
Remember when he got elected and was walking in the parade? There was an armored personnel carrier in line behind the limo. on top was a soldier and what looked like a .50 caliber machine gun.
We Minnesotans are not all liberal twinks. Some of us are testosterone charged dinks.
I am a moron?
Apparently you were too stupid to follow the flow of my comments and responses to those comments to realize that my point is that in the past we were not more free than we are today. With your argument that the Founders didn’t want women, those under 21, non property owners, and imbecils to vote, not to mention all the slave blacks, you have simply proved my argument.
Except for imbeciles, there is no reason the other categories should not have the right to vote. So there certainly is a lot more freedom today than there was in 1861, or in 1781. Learn to read before you confirm your own stupidity. I suspect the many women here at FR would also consider your statements pretty moronic.
Try not paying the IRS and see what happens to you,..”
That reminds me. I heard on the news that Tax Day was being put off from April 15th to the following Monday (I think) - as the 15th will be a holiday in recognition of, wait for it.....The Emancipation Act. I saw that on the news and had to laugh.
The following is from some tax website. I tried to search FR for an article on this.:
*The traditional tax return filing deadline is April 15 of each year, but the IRS has approved April 18, 2011 as the tax filing deadline for 2010 Tax Returns and extension requests in observation of Emancipation Day in the District of Columbia.
A report I read said the agent told him he was embarrased to be there.
