Leaflets Landed on Presidential Palace in Pyongyang on Two Occasions; Kim Jong-il Shocked

2011.01.06

Some of leaflets N. Korea human right organizations(in S. Korea) sent (via balloons) fell on Presidential Palace in Pyongyang, which shocked Kim Jong-il, according to internet news site New Daily on Jan. 6.

In an interview with New Daily, Choi Sung-yong, head of N. Korea Abductee's Family Group, said, "On Jan. 3, we had a telephone contact with our source inside N. Korea. He said leaflets sent (afloat) by civic organizations in S. Korea from Imjin Gak and Yeonpyeong Island landed near the Kim Jong-il's office at Presidential Palace in Pyongyang. There was quite a scramble to retrieve leaflets which landed in Pyongyang area. The incident shocked Kim Jong-il, too."

On Dec. 18 last year, N. Korea defector's organizations such as Free N. Korea Movement Association and N. Korea Liberation Front launched ten huge balloons containing two hundred thousand leaflets. The balloons were painted with phrases such as "Terminate Three-Generation Hereditary Rule," "Defend Yeonpyeong Island," and "People of N. Korea, Rise Up." They were launched on the ground of Yeonpyeong Elementary School at Yeonpyeong Island. The balloons contained 500 CD's with the information on Cheonan's sinking and shelling of Yeonpyeong Island as well as one thousand one-dollar bills. It was expected at the time that they will fly into Pyongyang and Nampo area riding South West winds(note: wind blowing from the South West to the North East.)

Mr. Choi said, "What N. Korea fears most is that N. Koreans will find out the truth from leaflets. (S. Korean) government needs to capitalize on it."

The Commies welcomed the pamphlets because they had long ago run out of toilet paper and their hands were becoming useless stumps.

If N. Korea does collapse. What I really don’t want to hear is how so many leftists are just shocked at the living conditions of the N. Koreans and how many millions needlessly died.

Mr. Choi said, "What N. Korea fears most is that N. Koreans will find out the truth from leaflets."

If that is the case they should improve the text on the leaflets.

They are N. Korean defectors, so I suppose they know how to get the message across to NK folks. But who knows?

Are you serious? How do you know the two countries average heights? N. Korea is a close society.
