Eyewitness News has obtained exclusive surveillance video of a former presidential aide that was taken two days before his body was found dumped in a Delaware landfill.
The body of John Wheeler III was found in the Cherry Island landfill in Wilmington on New Years Eve.
The video shows a man that appears to be Wheeler entering the lobby of a parking garage at 5th and King Streets in Wilmington on December 29.
An employee of the parking garage said Wheeler look disheveled and said he was looking for his car. The employee also said his right shoe, which appeared to be broken, was in his right hand.
From the way his show looked, I would say that it looked like somebody done something to him, the worker told Eyewitness News.
The video then shows the man getting on an elevator and walking around for 20 minutes. After that, he talked to a supervisor before he was escorted out the pedestrian door.
Investigators said Wheeler was last seen at 10th and Orange Streets in Wilmington around 3:30 p.m. on December 30.

Maybe the guy was suffering from dementia, crawled into a dumpster and died when dumped into the garbage truck. Very sad.
Could have had a stroke, or even drugged too.
Any news from the coroner?
Police are calling it a homicide.
Damn. I guess some creep took advantage of an old, weak guy.
Those Gary Condit parties can really bring on a confusing hangover. Especially into your 60’s.
So the guy goes from being and expert in Chemical/Biological and Cyber Warfare and working to get ROTC back on Ivy League Campus’s, sends out Christmas and New Years e-mails to a huge network of people and suddenly develops dementia???
The video is heartbreaking, especially considering the idiot woman, who claims to have tried to help him didn’t even call the cops until the next day! If he looked that bad, why not call an ambulance??
Something is very fishy here!
The rules of Occam’s Razor should only apply to those circumstances outside the DC political beltway. For all logical, simple conclusions become far too abstract in application within that area for the rule to have any use.
A freeper on a prior thread mentioned that he wound up in a dumpster in Newark, DE, which is 15 miles from where he was last seen by witnesses.
The video can be seen at the story link.
Fox reported that he had a problem with his neighbors whose house size was detrimental to his view. There was speculation that Wheeler had planted an incendiary device.
Perhaps some, or all, of this is true and he was both stressed out and remorseful of his own appalling actions. If he suffered from any form of dementia or early onset Alzheimers - perhaps he was urinating in it or decided to sit in the dumpster to get warm. Then he fell asleep and the dumpster was lifted up causing a fatal injury.
Sometimes things arent always what they seem. Including murder.
How about this ....he (or someone he hired) botched the arson job and he knew the hammer was coming down, he either offs himself or the hired citizen does it for him....
They were “bug” bombs, like what you use to kill roaches or fleas, that were in the house.
I don’t think a guy like this, no matter how angry would use a Flea Bomb to intimidate his neighbors. Sounds more like kids.
The device was a rodent smoke bomb, not a “bug” bomb. There’s a big difference.

Very sad, and quite disturbing. The video and interview with the parking attendant reveal two new pieces of information. One, he’s limping as he enters the parking garage. Two, when the parking attendant asked him where his briefcase was, he told her it had been stolen. This makes it seem as though Wheeler may already have been attacked or robbed once before he was later murdered by a second attacker. Law enforcement has classified this as a homicide, but haven’t revealed the cause of death.
The fact that his car was never parked in the garage where he was looking for it does make it sound as though he could have been suffering from dementia. If that’s true, and he ended up wandering around in the middle of winter without his coat, assaulted and robbed once of his briefcase, then later the victim of a second attacker who murdered him, this would be sad beyond words.
My totally uninformed guess is that he got mugged, suffered a head injury, and died sometime later. I can’t explain how he got in the dumpster, but maybe he got mugged a second time.
I may be wrong but I don’t believe this man just suddenly went bonkers.
It's entirely possible, but we will see.
My best guess...is that she's fooling around and she either put a hit on him or methodically poisoned him. Let's see what the autopsy says...
