Incoming House Speaker John Boehner's office (R-Ohio) pointedly vowed on Tuesday to push ahead with legislation repealing healthcare reform.
Boehner's office responded to a letter sent by the Senate's top five Democrats, vowing to block a House bill repealing healthcare reform, with a terse, 65-word note.
Boehner's office wrote:
Senators Reid, Durbin, Schumer, Murray and Stabenow:
Thank you for reminding us and the American people of the backroom deal that you struck behind closed doors with Big Pharma, resulting in bigger profits for the drug companies, and higher prescription drug costs for 33 million seniors enrolled in Medicare Part D, at a cost to the taxpayers of $42.6 billion.
The House is going to pass legislation to repeal that now. Youre welcome.
- Speaker-Designate John Boehners Press Office The note comes in response to a letter released on Monday by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's (D-Nev.) office, in which the Democrats promise to block a bill repealing benefits within the healthcare law.
Boehner's response is a sign that the incoming GOP House has little interest in backing off their promise to repeal (or at least chip away) at the healthcare bill.
It's also indicative of what could be a series of battles between the Republican-held House and the Democratic-controlled Senate over the next two years.

Good job Boehner - Keep it up - Don’t cave like a squishy RINO !
FINALLY - a Republican with balls. Will it last?
Pinching myself Bump!
Good for Boehner.
I would have given it a 5 word response, “Stick it in your rear,” or even a 2 word response...
After Boehner is sworn in, the Democrats should all stand and say “We who are about to die, salute you.”
Yeah!! For gridlock! Chip away at the obamanation, and otherwise corner liberals and render them impotent.
Ah...... I almost feel like I can relax a little insofar as no more liberal bs and unconstitutional power grabs. Not much, but a little.
Cost to senior family member on fixed income has more than doubled per prescription with Obamacare. Plus the primary doctor will no longer take her insurance.
About time! THIS was the answer I’m looking for, tell the socialists to pound sand.
I love this guy. He’s gonna be a nightmare for Democrats.
Please, please, please keep blocking this Reid and crew. Better yet, why not just hand us the Senate now.
I am afraid this is all they are going to concentrate on. There is so much more junk they need to rid the country of than just simply the Obamacare. I would rather they get rid of hundreds of things first and then the Obamacare which does not even get implemented until 2013. Start with DADT and go from there.
How about 1?
NUTS!
Good for Boehner. I still have a hard time believing this, but man, what good news. He better get the other pubbies to stick to this attitude. I'm looking at you, McCain/Graham/Snowe/ad nausem.
There, that's closer to reality...
And I thought the CBO, having now had sufficient time to score and work thru the details, now states that this costs money instead of saving money. If that’s the case, Obama stated he wouldn’t do this if it didn’t save money. Start talking that up, Pubbies.
Boehner pushes back at Senate Democrats? How, by saying that he is willing to share control, while the Senate Democrats try to end the filibuster? I have lost all confidence in Boehner.
I have a serious question about a strategy that I haven’t heard anyone discuss. Why can’t the Republicans just refuse to do ANYTHING in the House until Obamacare is repealed? No spending bills, no extensions of anything, nothing, nothingn NOTHING until the Senate passes and Obama signs a complete repeal of that horrible legislation.
Don’t we now control the purse strings of government?
Such as "Up yours"?
Contact with any democrat(or rino) could be dangerous..
Who knows what political disease they "have"...
They are, after all, still democrats..
